jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Yeah, would have loved Fernandez, or Cole in the first round. Hopefully d'Arnaud stays healthy and reaches his potential. I'm happy with Singleton, though Puig taken right after ahhhh!!!!! Should have taken Puig there - foolish me. I love my Arenado pick in the third round and Davidson in the 4th round for me was solid as well. Paxton looks decent in the 5th, though would have rather taken Ventura or even Stroman for sure.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Fernandez and Blackburn were good. Everything else meh.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Too busy too look into it right now but not uninterested.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I'd be very interested in Ortiz if I wasn't locked in with Crush-Freeman at 1B/DH. I think you should hold.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Not a believer in Calhoun.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I'd be very interested in Ortiz if I wasn't locked in with Adam Laroche at UTIL.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I have no idea what to make of Calhoun. I found him on the waiver wire late last year and have been debating what I want to do with him all offseason. Steamer has him slashing about the same as Hunter Pence and Alex Gordon, and he's always hit in the minors. I dunno. I'm uncomfortable dropping him. Also, I just thanked this post for no reason other than the fact that I wanted to give you your 1000th Thanks.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 The number 10 MiLB pick is up for grabs for a top 10 Waiver pick. Who's looking to get younger. We'll swap back end picks as well.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I'd consider moving Chris Davis or Freddie Freeman if I can get an elite OF or CF.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I'd consider moving Chris Davis or Freddie Freeman if I can get an elite OF or CF. I'm curious how big a value gap you have between Davis and Freeman. Obviously Davis had an unreal year, but at the same time Freeman also had a very solid year and is 3 years younger.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I think I value Davis slightly more, because I believe he'll continue to be a 35-40 HR hitter. Plus he'll probably sign with the Yankees next year and hit 80 HR with that porch. If we redrafted today, I think Davis is a late 1st round pick, I see Freddie more in the 2nd-3rd round range. Although it's crazy to think how young Freeman is, considering how good of a hitter he already is. I think he'll be what Justin Morneau could have been.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 "I think he'll be what Justin Morneau could have been." Morneau from 23-29: 10.1 BB%/14.7 K%/.228 ISO .287/.360/.515 .369 wOBA/126 wRC+/.296 BABIP Freeman age 24 ZiPS projection: 10.4 BB%/20.9 K%/.192 ISO .286/ .365/ .477 .361 wOBA/~130 wRC+/.333 BABIP I think he'll just be Justin Morneau - a great dynasty 1B and perennial top 10 at the position, but I don't think he'll be much more than that. Specifically, I don't foresee any type of consistent ~.400 OBP or 30+ HR production that would push him into the top 1B tier with guys like Votto, Fielder, Miggy, Goldschmidt, Pujols (past), AGon (past?), Edwin? etc.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 That's about what I expect too, ~25 HR and .360-.370 wOBA. That's the consistent producer Morneau should have been, with the MVP season being a career year. I do think Freddie will pop out a couple 30 HR campaigns though.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 To Gryff MiLB pick #10, Waiver Pick #90 To Balk Naked Waiver pick #5
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 To Gryff MiLB pick #10, Waiver Pick #90 To Balk Naked Waiver pick #5 Since it was a top 5 waiver pick, I like it a bit more. I still think that 10th MiLB has more value.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 After Abreu and Tanaka, I'm not sure there will be much. There's Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Alex Guerrero, but there's no guarantee either will fall to 5. Knowing Hurl, he probably has someone in mind (or maybe he's looking to trade up again from 5?). I actually think it's going to be a pretty weak MiLB draft beyond Rodon, but I guess we'll see.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Import Special I'm willing to trade the #1 Overall Waiver draft pick if I can get the right return. Of course it won't come cheap, but in return you'd have the pick of Abreu(a masher who is said to be the Cuban Miguel Cabrera) or Tanaka(a top starter who didn't lose a game last year). I figure I'd put this out there incase anyone really has a hard on for either of the top imports. It's an added bonus that a player of their talents won't count on this year's 20-man roster. It's not every year you have a chance to snag a player of their caliber with huge ceilings in the waiver draft. But like I said, it won't come cheap, everyone could always use another #1 starter or a 1B with 81 Power.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 OT Trade Question in a salary dynasty league. Would you do this trade: I receive: Ian Kinsler 14:$13.4M, 15:$13.4M, 16:$13.4M, 17:$13.4M, + Francisco Liriano 14:$8M I trade: Colby Rasmus 14: arb Daniel Norris [prospect] John Stilson [prospect] Rasmus is likely going to get around $7-8 million this season through arbitration so he'll be at the same salary as Liriano. Both only have 1 year left of control anyways, so for me it's a wash. It's tough giving up Norris and Stilson, though Kinsler is locked up for the next 4 years at $13.4 million which isn't absurd for a top second baseman. I think he'll stick at the position in Detroit, and I'm sure if he's healthy he can put up some nice numbers especially hitting in front of Miguel Cabrera and V-Mart. What do you think?

I suppose it depends what else you could get for Kinsler's salary and whether you think Liriano will repeat what he managed last year or not (I have my doubts). Still, I have to assume you could turn around and trade Kinsler if you wanted to for more of a return than Norris and Stilson.

It's not a guarantee Colby goes out and hits the way he did in 2013. I mean in real life, obviously Rasmus is a better player, though in fantasy I consider it a wash. I think getting Kinsler for Norris and Stilson is worth it. It's not a hefty price in terms of prospects and its not like there are many free agent second baseman available, unless I spend big on Robinson Cano which I'm sure will get close to $20 million per season when the FA market opens in our league. Right now my second baseman is Danny Espinosa. Kinsler at $13.4 M isn't bad and isn't franchise crippling per say, so he should always be movable if he produces.

I know the players I'm dropping I'd like to get back so I figure there will be fantasy relevant talent at #5 and #10

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Thanks. Someone also offered me Alex Gordon + a low level prospect for Jonothan Niese and Alexi Ogando. After trading Rasmus, I may consider it, though I'm a fan of Niese and his contract.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Finally a blockbuster, seems like it's been a month since something happened. Dinger gets: David Price Jaysblue gets: Freddie Freeman I like this deal for Dinger. Even though Price has declining velocity I think he can still have a few great years. Jaysblue gets the younger player but I feel Freeman will never be in the top tier of 1B.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 And now Dingers starting pitching is just f***ing stupid. Jose Fernandez Chris Sale Madison Bumgarner David Price James Shields Kris Medlen Hyun-Jin Ryu Chris Archer Brandon Beachy and maybe Aroldis Chapman

I don't have concerns about Price, but Freeman just had a huge season for a 23 year old.
