Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 The stats wouldn't count of course lol. Whether there's an additional penalty or not isn't covered in the rules. If that happens in the future and no one catches it, I don't think there should be any additional penalty. It's an honest mistake (I know I came close to doing it about a dozen times this year.)

It's an honest mistake (I know I came close to doing it about a dozen times this year.) We really should clear up what happens. I would really create a mess earlier in the season with standings and what not. I always assumed it was a forfeit but that would be really harsh. I picked up someone who was owned (I forget who) earlier in the season and luckily realized my mistake the same day. It's an easy thing to miss in the Yahoo interface and I don't know if the comish tools are sophisticated enough to make it fixable.
TRM Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 So, who thinks I can hold on? Does Nick have a comeback in him?
TRM Verified Member Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 An all cheesesteak final would be something
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 21, 2013 Author Posted September 21, 2013 It's an easy thing to miss in the Yahoo interface and I don't know if the comish tools are sophisticated enough to make it fixable. All a commish can really do is force add/drops. There's no way to edit team statistics or change standings or matchups or anything. We could institute some small punishments I guess, if people ever add an owned player and accrue stats from them. Something like getting moved to the bottom of the inseason waiver order, or losing draft picks. Not sure if it's really necessary though. Maybe it is. Could be a graduated system with worse punishments for subsequent strikes / playoff offenses.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I really hope Koehler pitches tomorrow. I don't know what Miami's plan is, but I want those strikeouts.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Couldnt the commish just remove the player from the team
TRM Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Pins and needles all day today. Still don't know what to do with my starters. Can only do at most 4 (need Hunter to stay in there). Kinda wanna make sure I get wins. I think doing that probably wins it for me.... I dunno agh. Decisions.

I just looked at your matchup and it's a tough call. I know what I would do but I could see an argument being made for either side.

Wins are tied and you're trailing in 2 of the rate stats. Sitting on Ks/ERA would be dumb. Kats also his Cliff going against the Mets, so it's not likely that he'll roll any of the rate stats over to you on his own.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 schwoops thought he was a nobody I already picked him up and had to be told...damn deep minor league drafts.
TRM Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I went with 4. This is absurd. 6-1 on Sunday? I've never seen something like that.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 Looks like I'm bowing out. The bats went limp. Min vs. FTD in the finals. Min would be the heavy favourite I suppose. Although Kats could still knock him off with a big power game from Zimm.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 Meanwhile, it'll be Hurl and I in the PL finals. A team that had no business finishing 1st vs. a team that I can't believe finished 7th.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 At least I'm going to finish ahead of Dinger and Balco pharm team. Silver linings. Top Darrell here. Looks like I win the graphing calc pool. Pony up your TI-84s, fellas...

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 It should be a good matchup. It will be interesting to see if resting starters becomes a story line at any point next week. My starters have been awful this last month though. If I'm going to win I feel like I'm going to have to win 4 or 5/7 on the offensive side; which seems unlikely given your offense.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I'm kinda surprised I was able to claim Enny Romero at #10. I will gladly take a 22 year old lefty who sits at 94 and pitches for the Rays, however. Yoink!

I assumed Romero was on someone's farm lol, although I was lower in the waiver order than you were anyway. Great pick-up. The free agent pitching prospect pool has been surprisingly deep. I now have Holmberg, Oberholtzer, Nolin and Erik Johnson, all out of FA. None have big ceilings, but one or two could turn into decent starters as early as next year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Yeah, I thought he was on a farm too, I had to triple-check. He's been in back to back Futures Games and can hit 98, so it's a bit surprising that he was snubbed at our summer draft.

Peripherals just haven't been there for him in the minors in the last 2 years. I doubt he's anything more than a middle reliever next year for TB, and as such he's not exactly big league keeper material. I'd rather have him on my farm than a couple of "prospects" that I currently have though.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 He profiles better as a reliever but the Rays are using him as a starter. If I were a rebuilding team I would easiy find room for him on my 20 man roster. I still might. Lefty starters with 70 heaters don't grow on trees and it's the best player dev org in the AL.

I really don't think he's a fantasy relevant player, no matter what the velo is, but obviously he has a decent ceiling and he's a clickable commodity given the tools and he's in the right org.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 and as such he's not exactly big league keeper material. I was thinking the same thing. Especially on one of the deeper rosters in the league. Dinger might have to let a quality reliever go if he decides to keep him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I look at it as a free offseason trade chip. Something like Romero and Sonny Gray could net me a nice vet from a lower half team looking to restock. Relievers can usually be moved for mid round picks, I plan to unload a couple to the highest bidders.

Dinger might have to let a quality reliever go if he decides to keep him. Of course he'd be an easy top 10 keeper for a terrible, garbage, embarrassing team like Boxy's. That team could use all of the hard throwing speculative LOOGY's that it can get.

Something like Romero and Sonny Gray could net me a nice vet from a lower half team looking to restock. Relievers can usually be moved for mid round picks, I plan to unload a couple to the highest bidders. Well then I should be able to get half a dozen vets or picks with the guys I have to unload. Drew Pomeranz, Tommy Hanson, Tyler Thornburg, Jeff Locke, Colby Lewis, Jenrry Mejía, Jimmy Nelson, Álex Colomé, Burch Smith, André Rienzo, Matt Magill, Juan Nicasio. There are some nice young starters there that would be good wild card bets for any team. Most of them will be cheap to aquire too.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Enny is kinda like those guys except not a bust yet. I dropped Tommy Hanson from a rebuilding team with 23-man keeper rosters, and no one has picked him up yet. I think that ship has sailed.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Hes a scout's guy; the anti-Cingrani. He won't be a FIP monster, but he'll keep his ERA down by inducing weak contact with elite velo and movement. Sort of a lefty Joe Kelly.
