I think it's close. TheRealMin has the better hitting because of a better lineup. But I think Dinger has the better starting and pitchers. If I had to face one or the other I'd rather face Dinger, he's .500 in his last 6 match-ups. TheRealMin is on an 11 game win streak.

Edit: Also, when are we allowed to start trading again?

Best case scenario is a win by King Kat, cause if that happens, I believe that makes myself and the winner between Dinger and FTD are sizable favourites next week. Just my opinion. BTS backed into the playoffs, and NJH is not at his best at the moment.

As we all know though, anyone can win. These playoffs are a crapshoot.

Your lineup isn't as stacked top to bottom as mine. Not a weak link among my boys.

That's a cute little anecdote, however I topped you in 5/7 offensive categories, and you only bested me in SLG by .002 pts. I also happen to think I have the best pitching in the league now, but I'm admittedly biased.

My pitchers lack the stars that some of you guys have, but I have a shitload of SP2, 3 and 4's. I have 8 or 9 dependable starters, a couple of which are really solid. That's the part that worries me about my staff. No one to go get it when I really need it.

With that being said, I have one of the few teams who can expect to contend in Holds and Saves every week (No49 is one of the others, if I remember correctly.) I have three solid guys for both categories.

Gun to my head right now, I say the winner comes out of either myself, Dinger or FTD. But as I said, it can go any way.

I can't wait for the day when my stallions are all in their prime and your geriatrics are having a boxy-esque season, forcing you to trade me Donaldson for my playoff push.

I got two more years after this, maybe three.

A little bit of good drafting and smart trades, and the dynasty roles on my friend!

Anyhow, as of now, I have the first "President's Trophy" and a Division Title. More than any of you suckers can claim to own.

Sure, over the course of the season....

But Cabrera is a little banged up, Craig is out and Davis has been nearly invisible the last two weeks. Mano-a-mano this week, I take my guys.

I didn't have great balance this year, but I like my relief core going forward with Cook and Doolittle. Great park should help them stay a little more consistent than the average RP

I didn't mean to do it, it just sort of happened. Nearly all my batters are on the wrong side of 27, but most of them are right around 30 so I am not too worried about them.

Pitchers on the other hand, they are seasoned vets, so we will see how that goes..

This is with me cutting Burton (hesitantly) and Hunter (comfortable with that).

I made sure over the course of the season, that since my window is smaller than some, I wanted to give myself the best chance to win all three playoff matches. That required me to have 3 closers, and 3 holds guys. This is why I added Hunter, so I can play a holds guy at SP every day.

I'll be taking your dropped relievers early and often in the waiver draft. I'll be going into that draft with 8 starters and a 9-man lineup set.

Yeah, it hurts to have to cut legit closers. Most likely I will trade them for draft picks to middle-of-the-pack teams that have room for them on their 20. I don't plan on letting them go to the Rule 5 if I can help it.

I actually bugged Silvio all year for Mariano, knowing that if I had to cut RPs anyway, I'm better off just getting an excellent one that was retiring. I offered Street or Scheppers plus on numerous occasions but couldn't get a deal done.

I acquired Uehara to be my holds ace and he got promoted to closer... so it goes. After that I pretty much decided to punt holds and dominate saves every week (which I have). So while you may have balance between the two categories, you have virtually no shot of beating me in saves. No one else has 5 above average closers that I'm aware of.

Originally No49s idea, actually. At the deadline, it worked for me, cause I wanted to give myself the best chance to win as I said....

But when I had 3 closers and two solid holds guys, I decided what the hell, no sense wasting a roster spot for a "Derosa", when I could use a "Platoon partner for Lind."

Absolutely. Totally agreed. We'll split them, should we meet.

Weird. Didn't he keep Mariano?

He kept holding out for more; he's a notoriously stingy negotiator. I don't advise trading with him, if you do manage to pull something off, you've probably lost before the ink dries. He knew he had a borderline team and that Mo's value approached zero as the year went on, he still wouldn't move him for two keepable relievers.

Wow, Huston Street has a 2.72 ERA, is 29/30 in save opps, and has 0.63 WPA. He also has -1.1 fWAR.

Street was terrible the first half, glad I stuck with him. He's been en fuego the last month.

5.16 FIP.

I'm shifting more and more towards using RA/9 wins as a measure of a player's contributions in a given season.

You will hate me for this, but I've come to the conclusion that AVG is a very underrated stat for pitchers. Some guys are just very hard to make solid contact against, and those are usually the guys that outpitch their FIP.

Posted
Wait, -1.1 fWAR? How the f*** is that even possible?

Second year in a row for him with a BABIP under .200, speaking of anomalies.

He also has a 100% LOB%.

BABIP is a skill for some pitchers, but within reason. Same way that Jeter can BABIP .~360 true talent, some pitchers can just induce weak contact and/or field their position well.

Street is pretty bad now though.

Posted
Absolutely. The trick is knowing which ones are making hitters uncomfortable and inducing weak contact, and which ones are going to regress back towards their peripherals. Jeremy Hellickson was starting to earn the FIP-buster tag before taking a giant kick in the ass from the big boot of RTTM.

Yeah, the bubble burst pretty hard this year for Hellickson and Cain.

I think it takes like... 4 or 5 full SP seasons for pitcher BABIP to stabilize.

An RP like Street, despite 9 big league seasons, his BABIP might not even be like, 50% stable right now.

It's not enough that Harvey is out. It's also not enough that Felix is out. Mark Buehrle and Danny Farquhar have to also collapse in epic fashion.

12.71 ERA, 1 K/BB, 0.515 OBP

Actually, your ERA is a cool 17.47.

At least you have no reason not to start Jordan Lyles!
