The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Uh oh, looks like Beachy's elbow just blew up again. Maybe you wanna sell him off while he still has a little value?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I'd consider parting with him for Kershaw.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 Uh oh, looks like Beachy's elbow just blew up again. That's sad. 9 parts depressing, 1 part hilarious since you just traded for him.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I would need a pick to come back with him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 That's sad. 9 parts depressing, 1 part hilarious since you just traded for him. I wonder who throws more innings over the next 3 years between Beachy and Pineda. It's pretty possible that neither one ever throws a full season again. Hopefully this is just scar tissue breaking up, its very unusual for someone to get a 2nd TJS so close after the first. It's weird too, because I watched Beachy's last start and his velo was up to 93, whereas he was sitting around 89 in the previous start and only hit 91 once.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I would need a pick to come back with him. Does a 6th get it done?

TJS is very good, and very refined these days, but it's still not a sure thing. Look at Ryan Madson. Look at Daniel Hudson. I think some teams might be too aggressive with their TJS casualties. Everybody aims for 12, 11 month recovery times these days. There's so much on the line, it really would behoove teams to give guys a couple of extra months, even if they're pain free and antsy. Tell them to suck it up and wait ~14 months. If Beachy has a re-tear, then I would bet on Pineda. Mostly because he's at the end of a rehab cycle and, despite the lack of strength right now, if the Yankees take it easy he could be good to go for 2014. Whereas with Beachy, you've got a slightly older guy and you're looking at probably a lost 2014 (if it's a major setback, which it seems to be).
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Realistically, Rasmus probably has the best shot at being the most valuable player in the deal. An .800 OPS CF is fairly valuable in this league and he's entering his prime. I'm not really a big believer in Folty (BBs, HRs, terrible team, AL), and I like Heaney but most people put a mid rotation ceiling on him. Pineda has had multiple setbacks this year already.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Does a 6th get it done? 7th or no deal.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Richie Shaffer, final offer.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 He does play for the Rays, and they know how to get the best out of people, I think we can call it a deal.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Anybody want to roll the dice that Henderson Alvarez learns a K pitch? Depends. Whats the roll of the dice?
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Anyone want Jorge De La Rosa? Looking for a pick in return. I want to clear space on my roster.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I almost asked you about him last night for his start today before completing my Buehrle deal. Looks like it was the right decision. Pretty sneaky and good move though.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 The choke continues, not like I had a horrible week but desperation moves might follow
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Weird Yahoo glitch is making it seem like every new piece of smack talk is coming from me (the commish, in the PL it's Dinger)
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Weird Yahoo glitch is making it seem like every new piece of smack talk is coming from me (the commish, in the PL it's Dinger) Hahaha I just saw this after I posted a comment and was like "What the heck how did I get on njh's account?!"
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I was actually losing 12-1 at one point this afternoon (around 3:00) and somehow I finished 6-6. Mike Napoli single handedly turned a 9-4 into a 6-6 after SNB.

TRM Verified Member Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 First one to clinch a playoff spot. Feels good. and No49 echoing my sentiments, no one wants to see FTD in the playoffs.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Anyone want Eovaldi or Milone for a pick or a pick upgrade?
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Anyone want Eovaldi or Milone for a pick or a pick upgrade? I sent you an idea, but not for those two
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I sent you an idea, but not for those two reel it in a bit and we might be able to work something out
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I'd trade starters Andre Rienzo, Juan Nicasio, or Jeff Lockefor a draft pick. Also, Ernesto Frieri is back as the Angels closer after striking out the side and earning the save over the weekend. I'd also trade him for a draft pick. Send me a PM or an email!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Frieri ain't the closer, Dane de la Rosa got the save last night. At best it's a platoon.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Frieri ain't the closer, Dane de la Rosa got the save last night. At best it's a platoon. Shhhh, not everyone may think that.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I love cockblocking Just a reminder to all GMs that waivers DO NOT carry over to next year, they reset based on standings BEFORE the annual waiver draft. So if you have a high waiver currently, use it or lose it. Like your bank accout when you die, you can't take it with you.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 If any team wants a top second baseman, I'm making pedroia available. Looking for a deal that helps me from 2015 and beyond
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I've made a few back end waiver claims, notably Gattis. Hasn't been much though unless you're looking for an Ichiro or Ibanez.
