Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I never believed in Ackley and I certainly don't now. I'd say he's the next Gordon Beckham, but I actually prefer Beckham at this point.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Boxy just made his team a little bit more handsome by prying Ackley away from me. Nice move for both sides since it will probably be a high pick (I assume the draft is non-snake like actual MLB drafts)
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I never believed in Ackley and I certainly don't now. I'd say he's the next Gordon Beckham, but I actually prefer Beckham at this point. At the beginning of the season I thought he had the ability to go 15/15 or even 20/20 which is good for a 2B. But now they are playing him in the OF and his power has seemed to abandon him and he's not running. So I gave up on him. But he does have the talent to become a really good player, and he was drafted 2nd overall just a few years ago. Nice move for both sides since it will probably be a high pick (I assume the draft is non-snake like actual MLB drafts) I assume so too.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Gordan Beckham is available if anyone missed out on Ackely. At least Beckham is hitting a lot better than Ackely this season and was very highly touted as Ackely when coming up. I'll entertain offers for anyone looking for a second baseman.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Alfonso Soriano looks like he'll be in pinstripes soon. He's already crushing the ball this past month and now hitting in that ballpark, he can be a solid power add for anyone down the stretch.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Havok where you at brah I'll send you a response in a bit. Give me a couple of seconds lol.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 The drafts from here on out are definitely not snake drafts.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 The drafts from here on out are definitely not snake drafts. Yeah that's what I figured. The whole point of the non-snake draft is to give the weaker teams an advantage to help with their rebuilding.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 The drafts from here on out are definitely not snake drafts. Even the Free Agent draft to bring us back to 25 man?
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 Even the Free Agent draft to bring us back to 25 man? I don't think we explicitly addressed that in the rules. It might make sense to have the waiver draft snake, since the s***** teams already get the top picks in every round of the minor league draft + the top picks in the waiver draft (where all the big ticket guys go anyway). So it might make sense in the waiver draft to throw the good teams a very tiny bone.... I don't really care though; whatever the people want.

I think having top picks in every round is plenty of help.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Player poll; Am I happy or sad that Delmonico was traded to the Brew Crew. I'm thinking, happy
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 My personal interpretation was no snake drafts ever again going forward. After the initial drafts, I don't think it makes sense.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Hey f***ers......it's beer O'Clock for me today, and I figured I'd leave this post........in here. I buried a friend today, she was only 41, she had a stroke that she was unaware of.....which led to another. (Please know and read the symptoms) that entailed liver failure and she became sick..........her cousin was going to donate half his liver for her, yet on the last day someone was a perfect match that passed away, and she had the successful surgery, we were all so happy, but the problem entailed that she caught an infection, this infection took her life. I'm sorry for yapping about this, but I want my buds to be aware. It was a bad pill to swallow today with her folks, my friends and all who loved her. I'll dry my eyes, stay cool Mofo's, just always take care, funny fducked up thing is my dad's brother my uncle died today by an aneurysm. Life isn't fair some times.....live it to the fullest. Cheers fellas Spanky! *heartbroken* RIP Friends of Spanky
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 My personal interpretation was no snake drafts ever again going forward. After the initial drafts, I don't think it makes sense. This is what I thought. I was sure the prospect drafts were going to be non-snake. I wasn't sure about the waiver draft though. If it hasn't been decided about whether the waiver draft is snake or non-snake it could always go to a vote? If it does we should vote now before the end of the season so that way people don't vote based on the place they finished.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 It should be a non-snake draft since that's what was talked about even before the first draft.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I don't care either way but I do think that snake drafts go faster mostly because as you switch rounds you get the back to back picks. There really won't be a huge difference between 21 and 40 as most people will be drafting for positional need (although it's possible that everyone will be drafting RP's), so I'm good with anything we do.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 My team is 0-20 so far today. Has anyone ever had a worse 0-fer?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Oh god, I didn't even know it was this bad. Hisashi since BTS traded Lawrie for him: 29 IP 22 ER 10 HR 33 Hits 4+ ER in every single start You *******. I hadn't looked at his stats in like two weeks because I didn't want to see that s***. You're the worst. Looks like Iwakuma has finally decided to pitch for you! 6.0ip 4h 0er 1bb 9k last night!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Since I've acquired Wily Peralta, he has been lights out for me. Good thing I sold on Berkman then since now he's contemplating retirement.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I dropped Wily in a couple of pools, right at the end of June
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 Could really use one more horse. Anybody thinking of selling a good SP?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Could really use one more horse. Anybody thinking of selling a good SP? I'd consider moving a starter like Hughes or McCarthy if they interest you. Price could be available - would cost a lot though if I moved him.

Price could be available - would cost a lot though if I moved him. I don't think the first two help me very much. Shoot me a quick price check on Price though, and I'll see if it's a cost that I'm willing to pay. (I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for or what your needs are. Everything is potentially available on my end, from picks to big league guys).
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I'd consider moving a starter like Hughes or McCarthy if they interest you. Price could be available - would cost a lot though if I moved him. What are you looking for for Hughes?
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Jeff Locke 6 walks, 8 hits, and only 2 runs. THE TIME BOMB IS COMING.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Looking to add a reliever and starter. Picks, prospects, Mesoraco, Lake and Eovaldi are all in play if you are looking to get younger
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Mark Melancon is on the block for a pick/prospect. With Grilli out 4-8 weeks there is a solid chance Melancon will serve as a good-elite closer down the stretch. Chris Perez is also available as a less expensive option. I'm also interested in good middle relievers who can pick up holds.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 He's been doing this all year. I should probably sell, but this league is smart enough that I'm probably better off just riding it out. I traded a 2nd rounder for him back on July 1st in the FC Dynasty league. My team is so bad that he could regress and still improve it though.
