I could use an OF who isn't hurt. If anyone wants to deal an OF with a little less upside but playing and playing well for a Revere or Upton I'd certainly consider it.

So in his midseason rankings KLaw had Eddie Butler at 28th. Other outlets have also ranked him.

"Butler was the one player at this year's Futures Game who exceeded expectations. He has big sinking life on his mid-90s fastball, thanks to a low three-quarters arm slot, and pairs it with an upper-80s slider that wipes out right-handed hitters and that he can throw at the back foot of a left-handed hitter.

His changeup has already improved substantially since he entered pro ball last year, and if that continues, he's a potential No. 2 starter or better who gets ground balls and misses bats."

And nobody drafted this kid lol. I anticipate he'll be added to Yahoo before next season, setting up a waiver frenzy.

If he's not added this year, he'll probably go early in the waiver draft. Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez should go pretty high as well.

Anybody looking for some arms? These guys are available for picks or prospects: Huston Street, Ryan Dempster, Joe Kelly, Vinnie Pestano, Chris Carpenter.

to think that Ben could have had Segura, Wainwright and Saunders for Kemp prior to the season starting. Timing is everything.

I thought he did pretty well to get Wheeler + a 1st + an ok prospect. But yeah, that trade would've really sunk your team this year. You and him would probably be flip flopped in the standings.

I remember offering a deal around David Price and at the time he didn't want to move Kemp for a pitcher.

Overall, I'm not much of a fan of this deal. Kemp when healthy and on his game is a legit top 10 player in fantasy baseball. I just think this was a bad time to sell low on Kemp. Unless Kemp becomes the next Grady Sizemore...but we're not fortune tellers here so to use that argument is irrational.

Yep, very dumb move on my part. The 3 for 1 MLB players is hard to make room for at the start of the year when ppl like their draft and don't want to drop players. Believe I tried to trade anyone on my roster at the time to try and make some room.

all sunk for him because he couldn't trade Yunel (after he confirmed our deal I might add). Yeah I don't mind what he got considering where Kemp is right now, still I expect Kemp to rebound...of course I spent a year thinking Crawford would rebound in Boston, sometimes good hitters fall apart earlier than others.

All the deals I received for Kemp were good offers, but I am sick of being middle of the pack. Ya, I sold low but I seen a chance to get younger and potentially improve my team going forward.

where would you pick Kemp right now using this format? I'd have a really hard time using a top 2 round pick on him. There is something about those guys that played CF for a little too long when they should have been moved to a corner...Wells, Crawford, Hamilton, Kemp and even Granderson. Stay away from Choo next year.

I think Wheeler's a future ace and his entire career is still ahead of him. And he's already in the Majors, not your typical prospect.

Kemp is great and I like him, but it's hard to say what kind of a steals impact he'll have this year and in the future. If he's more a 10-15 SB guy, that's not a super-elite player and there's a chance the other numbers aren't quite there either. I was interested in Kemp because he does have that high upside and I'll need that to match the other offenses in the league. But I realize that I'm paying a premium for a player that has a lot of risk.

It depends on who's available when I make my pick :P

There is risk with Kemp because of the recent injuries, no doubt. I'd just find it tough to sell him now when his value is at its lowest. It's not like he's been bad for 2-3 years in a row. We're talking about 3 months since he hasn't been at 100%. He posted up solid numbers last year when healthy. I doubt he goes in the first round in a redraft right now, though I'd definitely consider taking him somewhere perhaps in the mid-late second since the reward could be huge. I'm not writing him off yet at 28 years old.

You got a great deal. Wheeler has all the potential to be an ace, though he hasn't shown it yet. And we know young pitchers are very dicey. Everyone thought Bauer was going to be an ace, and look now. It takes time. I like Wheeler as well, though I'd still take Kemp over him. The 1st round is nice, but its a year away, and Jorge Bonafacio is a mid-tier prospect not anything special. If Wheeler goes all Matt Harvey and that 1st rounder turns into a solid top-50 prospect, then its a good deal. There is risk on both ends so it will be interesting to see how this pans out over the next 2-3 years.

Kemp going to miss a week?

Looks like he'll stay off the DL but you never know. It's mostly swelling that's the issue I believe, no structural damage. Annoying nonetheless.

A lot of the time people say "a player is being moved at his lowest value" it's not actually true. The whole point of making a move now is because he has lost faith in Kemp, and wants to move him before people get an extended look at declining production (not saying I feel that way about Kemp, I'm just saying that's what my strategy would be if I felt poorly about him).

My point is, if you have a slumping player and you think it's a realistic snapshot of what he's going to be moving forward, you move him. You don't wait around for people to start feeling the same way as you.

Nice job with the projected win%!

Was expecting that big drop in pitching, mine has been brutal. Although it's nice to see the improvements I've made on offense have shown up. This last stretch of the season is going to be really interesting.

Well, that would be a big blow to anyone's season. Hopefully he doesn't turn into Melky Cabrera.

But seriously, last time he totally victimized himself and swore on his life that he never put stuff in his body? Man, what a scumbag. Braun for trade, first offer gets him.

Posted
This is why I didn't draft Braun. Very happy with McCutchen, who's an easy guy to cheer for too.

Come on, don't act so smug. Braun is a clear top 5 player still in his prime. That you'd have an easy time passing on his performance is a lie.

I would be interested in hearing a trade offer if you're selling.

Apparently the fact that I was kidding didn't translate very well.

Ryan Braun auction? I'll bid one whole Brandon Belt and half of a Jon Niese.

I dunno, the risk of missing out on the first year was pretty big. I expect Braun to be good next year and in the future so you should be fine, but my present hopes would be crushed had I taken him.

To be fair, we're talking about a team so bad that losing Braun for the year is of great benefit. There really is no underestimating you.

One day, I will crush you.

Boxy just made his team a little bit more handsome by prying Ackley away from me.

I can't believe I passed on trading Gose for Handsome Jake in the hopes I could get something better. I'd pretty much have to grab Dustin Ackley too to get the most handsome fantasy team. Team Handsome.
