I've tried to trade Maholm but nobody will give me market value. Also, they've all been untouchable over the past month. Last 30 days ERA for my starters: 2.05, 2.10, 2.76, 2.78, 2.93, 3.10, 3.51. One guy who isn't owned that I'm surprised about is Andrew Heaney, the #9 pick in the 2012 draft. Not a huge ceiling, but everyone thinks he profiles to be a good #3/4 type. And he was a top 10 pick just last year!

Now I'll speak on Heaney...I like him but I already have him in the FC league and while i figured he was gone in this pool already, I was staying away anyway. Lat injuries scare me (don't be offering me Strasburg) with pitchers, Heaney needs to develop the change still and setbacks scare me. He's back now and isn't a big effort guy so he should be fine.

Not even ASAP. It's just not allowed during the season.

 

So in the future when we have full minor league rosters, if you have 12 prospects and you make a trade to bring in a prospect, you'll have to cut someone as part of that trade (or throw someone back to the other guy, if he wants the player).

 

Right now during the draft we've capped picks + prospects at 12, so the same logic applies, except we've stated that you cannot cut picks or prospects while the draft is going on, so it would all have to be worked into the trade. If it would take multiple trades to work that out then you'd have to hold off on agreeing and announcing the first one until you'd found that second necessary trade. It would all have to be simultaneous. No window or anything.

 

In the offseason there is, of course, no roster limits. We just have a cut down date in the spring where everyone cuts down to 12 minor leaguers and 20 big leaguers.

One thing we could vote on and implement in the future maybe is an in season DFA system.

 

Say you have 12 prospects and you trade for one. You need to immediately DFA one of your prospects. Then other teams have 24 hours to make you an offer for that guy. If you can't work out a suitable deal in 24 hours, then the prospect gets cut.

You can promote a prospect whenever. If you're about to make a trade for one extra pick or something, you could just promote Arcia immediately as you make the trade to avoid going over 12 (if that's what you're thinking).
