wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 A Big Mac combo used to be like $6.99 about 10 years ago. Now any combo at McDonalds is over $10. I got a Subway sub the other day it was almost $17.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 The cup final not starting till Saturday is stupid as f***, should've at least started tonight.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 The cup final not starting till Saturday is stupid as f***, should've at least started tonight. That's the NHL for you. At least the Stanley Cup won't be played at the end of June!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 That's the NHL for you. At least the Stanley Cup won't be played at the end of June! What does that even mean? Are you talking about covid seasons?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 What does that even mean? Are you talking about covid seasons? A lot of people want to see the Stanley Cup finals wrapped up before June starts. They have to really re-vamp the entire schedule.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 What does that even mean? Are you talking about covid seasons? NHL season and Playoffs seem way too long. It would be nice to have the Stanley Cup wrapped up by the end of the May or beginning of June, but that's pretty much impossible given the amount of off days and scheduling. Heck even this season in April I was asking myself when the Playoffs start and the Leafs still had regular season games on April 11th and 13th and their first playoff game was on April 18th. Crazy! They need to try to start the Playoffs earlier at the beginning of April. By time the Cup finishes mid-to-late June, then you have the NHL draft, free agency begins July 1st and by time September rolls around training camp and exhibition season begins.

Tough to tighten up the playoffs more than they already are. Most game are every other night. A few times there are 2 nights off. The only area where they can maybe tighten it up are between series...but they are at the mercy of US TV schedules there. Kinda out of the NHL's hands. The only way to get the playoffs done sooner would be to shorten training camp, start the season sooner. Other than that, not much flexibility with schedules that I can see. Each team has a week during the season, that was bargained for, with no games/no practice...can't really get rid of those. More back to backs is something no organization really wants. Might come down to decreasing from a 82 game schedule but I can't see owners OKing less ticket revenue. It pretty much is what it is.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 Yeah only way is to start training camp and the season earlier. They'll never shorten the season or make a Best of 5 series for Round 1. Owners would complain about lost revenue and NHL won't ever allow it. Plus R1 is excellent hockey, so you want to see the series go to 7 games. I recall a lot of back-to-back games this season in the NHL. They'll never get rid of that one week off per team like you said. Only thing is starting the regular season before the end of September, so shortening training camp and the exhibition season.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 they should bring an nhl team back to quebec city or maybe halifax. The gta could also support another hockey team as well like around hamilton or kitchener/waterloo/cambridge area, though doubt mlse would want that. Also, a lot of teams too close to each other - tor, buf, det, ott and mtl. In the us, maybe salt lake city or milwaukee could be options. no stop
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 lmfao... put 50 for me to win. On the Cats? Series or just Game 1 tonight?

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Series. Panthers paying 2.10 to win the series. So $50 wager returns $105 ($55 profit).

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 I bet $20 on Vegas to win the Cup back in R2. Got 5.50 odds so payout is $110, though now the cash out is $70. Wondering if I should take the early cash out or just leave it?

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Adin Hill is about to be a cup-winning goalie. This should be the death knell for people thinking goalies matter.
