Garry Bettman is going to have to step in at some point. Everyone thought it was his influence that lead to Melnyk announcing that they'd hire a President of Hockey Operations back in spring, but we're now into August and nobody has been hired, so that whole charade went nowhere.

Dorion is a moron, but credit where it's due: Spending $42M in real money with a cap hit of $60+M is actually impressive. I don't believe any other team has reached such lofty heights of frugality. He's a terrible GM, but an idiot savant when it comes to saving Eugene Melnyk money.

I think I'm going to watch more hockey this year. As a kid I used to play hockey and follow the NHL.

 

Then I found baseball and basketball and most of my sports watching went to them.

 

But maybe I'll start watching some hockey again this year. To me the Leafs look better than last year so they could be pretty fun this season.

 

Call me a bandwagon fan and you'd be right.

Today, I listened to a couple of losers whine that Mitch Marner didn't take a paycut to play for the best team in hockey even though they haven't done s*** in like 100 years and no one that goes to the games gives a s*** about hockey. How dare he! Mitch Marner should be kissing our feet for the chance to play for the Leaves for free.
