I worked the u18 Worlds this year. Got paid $0. Where was the hype? There were several players who played in this and the u20s. This tournament is a Canadian funded, Canadian run, TSN Hype machine, which literally no other country cares about. No one else even broadcasts it. Not to mention they have a ridiculous hosting fee which provides pretty much zero budget for the host community to hire sport professionals. If I wanted work out of this I would have to do so when the U.S. hosts. This does not help me or sport in canada grow.

Yeah but they are only valuable at these next to impossible grades. A card that still looks good from the 60's with minor wear that doesn't really take much away from it scores a 5 or 6 out of 10 on these condition scales and might bring in something like $1000 instead of $200,000. Don't worry Spanky, you never had a million dollars worth of cards. Even the next day after you got them they probably scored a 6 if you treated them the way any normal 10 year old would.

But U had a tonne, sold a shoebox for a houndo... he sells a Bourque $60 and a Gretzky $290... 350 he felt like a boss. He had 4 more, I f***ing sold that shoebox for 50 bucks...
