This seems hyperbolic.

Is it? They have 22 points in 22 games. They would need about 96-98 points to contend, which means they need to get about 74-76 points the rest of the way. To get to 98 points, they would need to go on a 0.633 point% pace the rest of the way, which is only comparable to the 2017-18 season (0.640 point%). Is it possible with this talent? Absolutely, but they need to get their heads out of their asses and start giving a s*** on the ice before giving me any reason to believe this team can do it.

In their last 39 games, the Leafs are 19-15-5. Almost half season.

Not great.

I posted this last March. The Leafs mediocre play is not new...It's more than 60 games now that they're not playing at a playoff pace. They started very hot last season and held on for a playoff spot.

At some point you need to consider change. Clearly it'll be Babcock as the first move. But if they sputter all season long then you really have to wonder if this mix just isn't the right mix.

You've carded this system before... lol

Yup. Let's keep pretending that it's only a quarter of the season that this team has had issues.

Either they fire Babs or they've decided that they're ok tanking this season. It is a very deep draft so there's that. There's no cap space to make any meaningful roster moves so they really are stuck with this group for the balance of the season.

I have an inside source that is saying Don Cherry will be the next head coach of the Maple Leafs.

#MaketheLeafsGreatAgain

That ship has sailed. He was going to be offered an assistant coach position years ago but I don't remember why that fell through.

On social media "Leaf Nation" fans blame, Rielly lol. It's really not just anyone, it's their defensive/scheme, overall brainfarts every game.

Hard to watch, bud. Babs might be getting tuned out, something's gotta change in a hurry. As Burkie said a few days ago, a GM generally gets one coaching change, and Babs wasn't Dubas' guy, he's in the AHL.

And there it is... Sheldon Keefe

Don Cherry in a coaching role on an NHL team would be the best thing ever. Not on a team that I would root for, but just in general to see the spectacle.

So did Babcock even earn half of his 8 year $50 million deal? Pretty close I guess, lol. As long as it's not a cap hit I guess it doesn't matter. Let the Leafs piss away Tannenbaum's money generated from the corporate season ticket sales.

Babcock fired! Wow

Leafs allow Babcock to run practice and then fire him in the afternoon. What a joke. Nerd boy doesn't have the balls to fire Babcock so he waits for shanny to fly in. If you're going to make the change, make the change, but do it right.

I'm guessing Shanahan probably had a few uncomfortable conversations with his bosses. The Leafs have tons of money, but giving out the most expensive coaching contract in league history and then eating half of it when he's fired is a pretty bad look.

Babcock came out and said all the right things post firing, because he's a classy guy and that's what he does. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for the real conversation between Shanahan and Babs when he told him. Babcock is a fiery guy. I'm sure it would have been a lively conversation to say the least.

He never thanked Shanny for actually hiring him in the first place.

"Thanks for the $40 million for doing nothing, I can spend my days on PornHub now".

Seriously, would there be anyone who would be upset if their employer fired them and gave them 4 years severance? Saskjayfan is the board's living embodiment of the ok boomer meme.

And I guess that's the millennial stance? Cool to take money for doing nothing with no sense of pride or unfinished business to get upset about. Ok millennial
