Nah, even considering the LOLSens, NHL is the highest parity league. Any team can beat another on any night.

Of course they can...but being a Top 5 team shouldn't yield as many complete duds, some against awful teams, as the Leafs have shown us. They can play with Tampa if they're in the mood...and then they can struggle to even compete with Zona, Ottawa, and Colorado. They're consistency is what is frustrating. You really don't know which team is going to show up on any given night.

They need to change it back to what it used to be. The current format was supposed to result in more match-ups between division rivals, but it isn't reflective of the true performances of the teams in the league.

 

To be fair, though, the West would not see much of a change in the current playoff match-ups between the old and new formats. The problem mainly lies in the East.
