Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Derp. So you agree Reimer or Johnson is better than Andersen? Yet, the Buds let him(Reimer) go last season?
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 So you agree Reimer or Johnson is better than Andersen? Yet, the Buds let him(Reimer) go last season? Even Strength SV% says they are about equal. I will let you make of that what you will.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 So you agree Reimer or Johnson is better than Andersen? Yet, the Buds let him(Reimer) go last season? Nobody said Reimer and Johnson (or Greiss) are better. They said that there's little reason to believe that Andersen is tangibly better. You then flew off the handle, even though your logic is "the Leafs traded Reimer, and then replaced him with Andersen at significant cost, and the Leafs are my favourite team, therefore Andersen must be better than Reimer". You should be embarrassed about all of this.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 No. Do you plan to ever make a coherent argument against a point being made or?
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Probably one of the few transactions from the new regime that I don't like. Just don't agree with investing heavily into goaltenders given their volatility.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Apparently Anderson has a good high-quality SC sv%. I have yet to see proof that this is a skill
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Honestly though, going from the MLB s***... to the slapstick s*** here... without looking at anything, y'all making me sick.

King Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Scoring Chance HFBoards -------> Low/med/high scoring areas?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Low/med/high scoring areas? Yes so apparently he saves difficult shots but again, idk if this is a skill although Cyborg likes this stuff iirc
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Yes so apparently he saves difficult shots but again, idk if this is a skill although Cyborg likes this stuff iirc Given that his overall save percentage is average, that means he's been below average on easier shots. Is the idea that letting in easy shots is really just a random occurrence?

Conor found that (unsurprisingly) a goalie’s performance on high danger shots was most closely correlated with overall success, with medium shots having slightly less influence, and low danger shots showing almost no relationship.

So when fans want a goalie run out of town because he makes the tough saves and gives up a lot of softies, they should just be expecting a regression of the goalie's luck on easy shots.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 So how does Bernier's HQ SC sv% compare to Andersen's?
Frag Verified Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Eh, I like the deal. From what I've read, his numbers are above average (via HD SV%) and his cap hit is right around market value for a similar goaltender. Plus, it's better than risking a 1st/2nd round pick on a goaltender prospect, not that I think that was the Leafs' plan. They are voodoo~

I'm not a fan of taking goalie prospects in the first round or two. Much tougher to guage than forwards and defensemen.

There's a couple good forwards and D ranked in the 30s that I like. If DeBrincat is on the board at 31 I'd love the Leafs to take him.
