With Marner, Nylander, and Matthews all entering the lineup next season I would say thats your core for the future already. Surround them with good players and make the playoffs. Otherwise, run the risk of going full Oilers

 

Maybe trade for a goalie at the draft, like Jones and Schneider in years past. Freddy Andersen makes the most sense imo

Happy with the trade, the 5 year extension at 5-5.5aav is a bit steep imo

Isn't giving up a 1st + 2nd in order to pay a non-elite goalie 5 x 5.5 a pretty terrible decision?

Last 1st round pick in a crappy draft and a 2nd we got for polak, meh. Trade was good, the contract is a bit steep for an unproven goalie. If he keeps playing the way he has, it's a good trade/signing

Let's wait and see what Freddy is. If he can put up numbers similar to what he's already done, we're laughing. This move is a lot easier to swallow in a year where they are loaded with picks.
