z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Haven't caught much of the playoffs this year, but the sure seem to be back and forth (so I assume good hockey?). Nothing like a game 7. Maybe STL can do the same.

nextyear Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 This is a video clip of the greatest comeback in NHL playoff history back in 1982. The LA Kings were down 5 - 0 to Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers after the end of the 2nd period but came back to win 6 - 5 in overtime. The NHL seemed much slower back then, but for some reason the games seemed more entertaining than today. The NHL had some very ugly jerseys back then.

The athletes weren't nearly as physically fit back then... And games weren't coached to death, where every little move was analyzed, and reanalyzed, and planned to the nth degree. It was way more instinctual... Thus, way more mistakes were made, creating way more scoring opportunities.

The NHL is much better today, but in my opinion, the old-time 1970's and 1980's hockey was much more entertaining. I think that NHL players have become so good defensively (including better strategy) that the NHL should start playing entire games with only 4 skaters (as they do in regular season overtime). As good as the NHL players have become, the games have become more boring. PS: Another difference is with skates, modern skates are built for speed whereas skates in the 1970's seemed very awkward in comparison. Even the sharpening of skates has become more consistent.

crazy47larry Verified Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Leafs pick will be #30. first or last is really the way to be these days
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Ya ya ya... Pens won. Phil won. I'm over it. Let's get this draft going. 12 picks for the Leafs. 5 in the Top 61 I believe.
Frag Verified Member Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The Ducks are set to hire Randy Carlyle as their new head coach. L.O.L.
Frag Verified Member Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 NHL in Las Vegas is now confirmed. That will make 31 teams in the NHL. I wonder what they'll do to even things up, whether it be waiting for Quebec City/Seattle/etc. next year and/or relocation.

Hopefully Quebec, also, I can't believe the Ducks are going back to Carlyle, lol.

nextyear Verified Member Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I am sure that it is just a matter of time before the Carolina Hurricane or Florida Panthers move to Quebec City.
