Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I like the trade for the jackets and preds. Not sure what LA was thinking though.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Johansen traded for Seth Jones holy s***!! Love this for Nashville. lol... that's a steal.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I think you guys are underrating Seth.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Columbus is an easy bottom 5 org. So many stupid moves. This one isn't that bad but the Saad, Wisnewski, Clarkson, Gaborik, Carter suggest a common theme.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I think you guys are underrating Seth. Advanced stats guys seem to think D-men really don't matter that much.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Advanced stats guys seem to think D-men really don't matter that much. I wouldn't say that. Number 1 Dmen are plenty valuable but Jones isn't that. Johansen has the potential to be a number 1 C and already is a really good number 2C.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Jones is still very young with a lot of games already played. I think he's also been blocked from excelling by other top D in nashville.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Advanced stats guys seem to think D-men really don't matter that much. From what I've seen the advanced stats aren't very "advanced".
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 From what I've seen the advanced stats aren't very "advanced". They're not at baseball level but they're pretty much best publicly available s***
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I think I saw something posted on here from last year that said Karlsson was the most valuable defenseman in the league according to advanced metrics, and he was still only rated around 45th overall in the whole league or something. Does that sound about right?

Does that sound about right? I don't know a ton but that sounds a touch conservative if not agreeable to me

Does that sound about right? I think Forwards, Centres especially are the most valuable but I highly doubt Karlsson was only the 45th best or most valuable player in the league last year. He's easily a top 10 player in the league right now and might even be borderline top 5.
King Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Ariel Jurado = 19 year old A ball Panamanian version of Masahiro Tanaka. wrong thread
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 lol at this rate the Leafs won't even finish bottom 10.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 What a deal for Nashville!

Does that sound about right? Correct. DMen don't have as much impact on games as forwards do.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Big win for Nashville. According to random TSN push notifs Philly dealt Lecavalier and Luke Schenn for some center (Weal?) and a 3rd on LA and idek what that means Weal is okay. Never given a chance in L.A.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Correct. DMen don't have as much impact on games as forwards do. Is this a well-known thing now? Had a guy who really isn't very good at analytics come up to me today about this.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Weal is okay. Never given a chance in L.A. Yeah, I like this for Philly, LA just adding depth for a run at the cup.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Panthers going for 11 wins in a row tonight against the Sens... Crazy!
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Panthers going for 11 wins in a row tonight against the Sens... Crazy! Holy s***! How did this happen?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Holy s***! How did this happen? No kidding, first in the Atlantic now and 2nd in the East, up 2-0 on the Sens.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Still no fan support which is pathetic
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Still no fan support which is pathetic Just Canadian Snowbirds, lol.
