Nox Verified Member Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 yup! As discussed, maybe if he switched positions (which he could probably do given his skills). Not remotely close in his current role.

King Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Illegal Curve Hockey @IllegalCurve 1m1 minute ago He may have played here with the Moose, but the fans let Ryan Kesler know he´s not welcome here anymore with chants of "Kesler Sucks". lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Jets swept out of the playoffs I thought that series was at least going 6, didn't see that happening.
Frag Verified Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Forsberg stiffed? Gaudreau, Ekblad, Stone named Calder finalists. Tough year to get nominated, but I think he should have been nominated over Ekblad.
Frag Verified Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Ya'll hate defense men Forsberg proceeds to a playoff hat trick.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Tough year to get nominated, but I think he should have been nominated over Ekblad. I think Ekblad wins it. Either him or Stone.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I think Gaudreau has the best chance. We'll see. I think Ekblad gets votes because of the 18 yr old Dmen thing and Stone gets it because he was one of the better NHL players in the last 30 games or whatever it was. Can't see Gaudreau getting it with the same number of points as Stone and being the worse defensive player.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Forsberg should be nominated, but Gaudreau should win regardless. You would take Gaudreau over Stone?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 You would take Gaudreau over Stone? Yes, yes he would.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Stone's possession numbers weren't close to Gaudreau or Forsberg. Above average but not good like the other two. Does the NHL even look at advanced metrics yet, I mean in consideration towards awards? Personally myself, I'd go... Forsberg Gaudreau Stone Ekblad A great class of guys, it'll be well deserved.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 *Yes, I know Forsberg has been omitted*
Nox Verified Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Stone's possession numbers weren't close to Gaudreau or Forsberg. Above average but not good like the other two. I know WAR-on-Ice doesn't have the easiest interface to navigate/understand, but do I not see Gaudreau having pretty mediocre possession numbers?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I know WAR-on-Ice doesn't have the easiest interface to navigate/understand, but do I not see Gaudreau having pretty mediocre possession numbers? You didn't do the Calgary Flames adjustment.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 You didn't do the Calgary Flames adjustment. Hahaha...or Burlington's Ottawa adjustment.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Stone's possession numbers weren't close to Gaudreau or Forsberg. Above average but not good like the other two. What about the last 35 games? Stone was playing with the likes of Legwand beginning of the season or worse being a healthy scratch. I think you have to weigh that in consideration. Edit: Since Jan 1st Mark Stone has the highest P/60 of any player in the NHL at Even Strength.

FWIW...I found it interesting that media ex-hockey players have brought up his 2-way hockey, and brought up Datsyuk defensively, that's high praise.

Well he led the NHL in takeaways. Obviously I'm biased because I watch every Sens game so I get to see all the little plays he makes every game. His speed is average at best but he just finds ways to make an impact in the game.
Frag Verified Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Not after QoT adjustments. Everyone on the Flames was negative straight CORSI. I seem to be finding a competition between Forsberg and Stone in terms of puck possession on War-on-ice. Edit: Here are what dCorsi Impact says: Filip Forsberg: 53.09 Mark Stone: 15.11 Aaron Ekblad: -9.30 Johnny Gaudreau: -97.98

Arbitrarily picking intervals to assess a player's statistics is rarely a good idea.
