Hopefully they trade Franson, his value seems pretty high right now, but can anyone get behind giving him the contract he's looking for? That would be a terrible mistake IMO.

How much does he want? He's a good defenseman and he's only 27. If they can get out of the Phaneuf deal somehow then it might make sense.

I'm hoping for McDavid in Buffalo. I think a Buffalo resurgence would be really good for the NHL.

 

With the new lottery odds though, the Leafs could finish 21st-25th overall and still have a 5% - 7.5% chance of winning the lottery.

 

The worst four teams lost about 14% to "the field" in the new weighting. Sum of worst 4 team's odds is now 54.50%, used to be 68.70%

The report is he's looking for 5-5.75 which is probably too much considering the Phaneuf contract. You'll be paying upwards to 13 million for your top 2 defencemen who aren't even 1 & 2 guys. Frustrating team.
