Its because the general public read morons like Don Brennen and Bruce Garrioch in the papers and believe what they say.

I think a big advancement that will occur eventually with fancy stats is that people will come to appreciate legit Centres much like people appreciate legit defensive C/SS/CF in baseball. I think the position is that important.

 

Right now, all too often, viable C just kind of get lumped in as "forwards", and you don't see them go for real premiums in trade or on the free agent market (this is my presumption with no data).

Shanahan wants Rob Blake to replace Nonis. Isn't he the one who's built the analytics-based Kings?

I personally don't think Rob Blake has any interest in leaving Southern California. He's a surfer, he likes working with the Kings and as much as maybe one day he wants to be a general manager, I would be absolutely shocked if he wants to do it in Toronto.

 

Obviously. But it looks like Shanahan has a good idea in what to look for.
