NHL allstar game has to be one of the worst sporting events. Its getting worse than the ProBowl. MLB and NBA all star games are such big things for the leagues but NHL treats it as crap.

 

Who cares, it's for kids.

Yup. I really hate the interruption of the schedule. I'd prefer to watch any two teams play a regular season game than watch an all-star game.

I think you still need to have a break for the players. With the amount of games they play they need an extended break so their bodies can recover a bit.

The All-Star game is such a farce, Tavares scores 4 goals, tying the NHL record on the winning team, Johansen had 2 goals and 4 points on the losing team, but wins the MVP and car, cause hometown Blue Jackets player? Yeah, and ZERO hits, lol. f***ing game of shinny.

6.5 more years with a cap hit of ~7M for a guy that's clearly a 2nd pairing D-man at best..... hard to think of a sensible team that would eat that whole thing, but it's hockey so I guess there are a few dumb GMs that might.

Yeah, this. I watched the 97 All-Star game just for the hell of it. It seemed bizarre with players actually skating, there was a lot of interference too but I suppose that was the era. Theo Fleury actually threw a body check! LOL. It wasn't much of one but still. Also Hasek, damn was that guy good.

The jerseys were f***ing horrendous this year too.

 

I actually kind of like the combine style skill events. It's cool seeing who the hardest shooters, fastest skaters, etc. are. I wish the skills comp had even more of that - events that display actual discrete skills (tools).

 

The breakaway challenge thing is pure cringe at this point.
