Nox Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Feel free to look here http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/rankings/cap-hit/center/ Remember Bozak is 4.2 ( LW ) but plays center, and don't look down the list to find up and comers that's cheating. Hodgson, Laich, Backes, Marchard ( i like him ), Fisher, Hudler etc. Relax with Bozak being the problem and a " garbage player " Um, other than Laich, those guys are pretty decent. Fuzzy thinking is fuzzy.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Another loss but this one wasn't a tough one. Leafs got beat... Babcock bank on it
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 2.5% chance to bring Connor home. http://www.danglefactory.com/projections/standings Id be stoked to get any of the top like 10-12 guys. Such a deep draft this year.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Sure tell me which days he shows up and I would agree. Kadri has tools to be something better. That is a longer process, maybe he is ready now however that doesn't take anything away from what Bozak has done for this team. A good center is tough to find never mind a top one. Bozak sucks lol. The funny thing is that Kessel is getting killed in the media mostly because of Bozak.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 If the Leafs decide to tank, which firing Carlyle kinda seems like they'll be doing, they could get a fantastic building block for the future.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 So Babcock is officially this year's Ontario-born player/coach/GM that Leafs fans spend six getting excited about? This has been going on forever and none of these guys have ever signed in Toronto.

Again who would you rather have play with him on this team? This is not a video game we can't just get a Toews! Kessel is asked the same questions as others but he is the one who can't handle them. He is a great player on a great team, but currently he is a great player on an average team. Compare him to a Kane, not the leader but a great piece.

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 The answer to the "who would you rather play?!?!?!?" question is pretty clearly Mikhail Grabovski. Oops. Alex Steen would look pretty good too.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Pretty much anyone else. Kadri most definitely. But yeah, mostly anyone else. Oh yea me too anyone else? I can name a few stars in the NHL I would want at center, back to reality yet? Kadri and Kessel would require the top defense pairing in the league along with a top goalie. Can you imagine Kadri taking majority of the faceoffs?

You think I'm talking about getting a star center. I'm not. Mike Santorelli. Nazem Kadri. Peter Holland. All better options than Tyler Bozak. Already on the team.

This has been going on forever and none of these guys have ever signed in Toronto. I would like to hear why Babcock would leave a place where: 1) He's won in the regular season 2) He's won in the playoffs 3) He has complete trust from those above him 4) He will almost certainly get equivalent compensation from. 5) He doesn't have to deal with the Toronto media.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 How about Seguin? To play next to Kessel? Catch 22; logic fail.
Nox Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 To play next to Kessel? Catch 22; logic fail. Let me troll in peace god dammit.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Let me troll in peace god dammit. Lol I had Seguin typed in and I was gonna hit enter and then I realized the logic fail. I'd let you troll in peace but that'd make BTS too happy for my tastes.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Most egregious and damaging decision? - Rask for Raycroft - Steen for Colaiacovo and Stempniak - Buying Grabovski out and using the cash on Clarkson and Bozak
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 You can add giving Dion Phaneuf money. Yeah it doesn't get much worse than giving Phaneuf 7/49. In baseball terms I want to say that that's the rough equivalent of, say, the Josh Hamilton deal (or something like that). So many bad trades in recent Leafs history. As a Boston fan my personal favourite has to be the Rask deal. Used to be the Kessel trade but then the Bruins had to ruin everything by trading Seguin for junk.... This is another personal fave though: 2011 draft, Toronto trades picks #30 and #39 for pick #22. They pick Tyler Biggs at #22, a guy described as having 3rd line upside who currently has like 2 points for the Marlies. Anaheim picks Rickard Rakell (hey, at least he's in the NHL (I think) and his name is cool) and John Gibson super-stud with those two picks.

The reason guys leave places all the time: Money. That said I don't see Babcock coming to Toronto.

The drafting in the Burke era was also Oilers-esque. Edit: Actually looked it up and its worse than I thought. Here are the top 3 round picks since the 2008 2008 1 Luke Schenn 2 Jimmy Hayes 2009 1 Kadri 2 Kenny Ryan 2 Jesse Blacker 3 Jamie Devane 2010 2 Brad Ross 3 Greg Mckegg 3 Sondre Olden 2011 1 Tyler Biggs 1 Stuart Percy 3 Josh Leivo 2012 1 Morgan Reily 2 Matt Finn 2013 1 Fredrik Gauthier 3 Carter Verhaeghe Kadri and Reily seems like the only long term assets from 6 drafts (Also both were top 10 picks). And if you are wondering about if any picks from the 3rd round to 7th turned into anything Jerry D'Amigo is the only one to play more than 20 games in the NHL and he played 22... Not only that, but the Leafs could have used one of those picks to draft Brandon Saad, which makes me Saad.

You know the drafting has been awful when you are getting excited about a 7th round pick. Even if he has say 2nd round talent they drafted Gauthier in the 1st round who has 3rd line upside.

Drafting a second round talent in the 7th is something to get excited about lmao It's worked pretty well for Detroit, no?
