GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Called it. Totally called it. Incredible. Oh wow, I hadn't been on it. Damn. Imagine if it's the Leafs. Christ. Just incredible news. Maybe the Leafs do have a future.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 steve simmons @simmonssteve 27m Cam Charron and I exchanged private emails last season. He posted them online. You can think what you want. To me, that's a weasel. James Mirtle @mirtle 5m @simmonssteve You and I had private conversations you put in the Sun. What's the difference? lol Simmons you hypocrite.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 lol Simmons you hypocrite. Lol what stupid s*** did Simmons start this time?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/leafs-hire-pridham-as-assistant-to-gm/ Leafs also hired Brandon Pridham as AGM. Pridham, who was with the NHL as senior director of central registry and central scouting, will “assist with salary cap analysis, contract negotiations and collective bargaining agreement interpretation,” the team said Tuesday in a release.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Steve Simmons is a moron.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Oh okay so the Leafs hired Cam Charron too. http://editorinleaf.com/2014/08/19/maple-leafs-hire-founder-popular-analytic-site-extra-skater-cam-charron/ Also Rob Pettapiece. Jesus.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 "The guy who wrote this obviously has some deluded, unjust hatred for Bozak. If it weren't for Bozak being the glue between Kessel and JVR, allowing their dynamic skill to prosper, and the most defensively sound forward in the top six (potentially the whole team), the Leafs wouldn't even compete for a playoff spot. DO NOT undervalue Bozak's importance to this team." The Leafs' comment sections are glorious. I know this guy, too. Christ.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Do you guys like the changes to the lottery? Good for the leafs but sucks that 5th-15th place teams have a greater shot at the first overall pick now, lol

Good for the leafs but sucks that 5th-15th place teams have a greater shot at the first overall pick now, lol Better than it was but it still gives teams incentive to tank. The teams in the bottom 4-8 will mail it in the last 2 months of the season because the lottery is for only the number one spot unlike the NBA which drafts for the top 3 spots.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Is wearing those man-panties part of the challenge? That's a pretty balls out way to accept the challenge though.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 In a Keeper league I'm in we are having two expansion teams. Were allowed to keep 6 players safe while the two new teams both pick one player from each of the 8 teams. I can only keep safe 6 of Rask, Quick, Kane, Kessel, Ovechkin, Malkin, Mackinnon,. Do you guys think Mackinnon is legit and should be saved over one of the above? The pool follows typical hockey stats.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Package Quick with one of them if it isn't too late to make trades. Or yeah drop Quick.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Report: NHL expansion to Las Vegas 'a done deal' http://www.thescore.com/news/563625 Say what now? I guess I haven't been following this at all. I had no idea they were this close.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Why does the NHL keep trying to have more teams in hot as s*** places? Makes no sense.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Seattle next? I'd say the Sahara.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Seattle next? Coyotes should have been there 5 years ago
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 NHL to Vegas might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. #1 It's hot as s*** #2 The population is extremely transient This won't end well.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Now the news reporting an expansion to 34 teams including Seattle, las vegas, quebec city and another toronto team by 2017???
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Quebec City should definitely get their team back. Not sure if the Leafs will allow another team in or around Toronto. Didn't they want to move a team to Hamilton, and it got refused?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Well that's a mindf***. pretty unreal. I have a new favourite team in the west in Vegas. The second Toronto team hurts my Sens likely.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Sens org suffers, Leafs ticket prices drop, hipsters given new option...huh. http://i.imgur.com/vL2ybiS.gif How does the Sens Org. suffer? Sidenote- I can only see them expanding to 32 teams as it makes much more sense. Have 4 divisions of 8 teams or 8 divisions of 4 teams, that way the league won't be unbalanced. Also Bettman's huge ego comes in to play as he wants to be the first commissioner to have a team in Vegas.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Why exactly is the NHL avoiding cities like Seatle, Quebec City for f***ing vegas. How long has this douche commish been trolling the league for

How long has this douche commish been trolling the league for From the articles out there it sounds like Seattle and Quebec City will have their teams when Vegas does as well.

Also Bettman's huge ego comes in to play as he wants to be the first commissioner to have a team in Vegas. It's not like there will be two battles of Ontario for the Sens. They already took a back seat to the storied rivalry between the Leafs and Habs. Now instead of being the bastard step-child, they might be the bastard step-child's imaginary friend. It's also another battle for sponsorship money. If the Sens are playing well, it probably won't matter but in lean times there are now 4 other teams (don't think Quebec doesn't effect them too) for sponsors to jump to. As for Vegas, this whole concept of gambling being an issue...gambling is no longer tied to Vegas. It can be done world-wide. I'm pretty sure there are more degenerates in New York than in Vegas. If promoted correctly...anything in Vegas can work (at least short-term)>
