The fact that the Leafs get a partial reward for a game like that is all the reason I need to dislike the NHL. According to them, losing in spectacular fashion in a dumb shootout (fyi, every other sport is trying to move AWAY from gimmicky, crapshoot ways to settle tie games) is worth half a win!
