dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 What is it with this league and its' fascination with goalies? Do they not do research on the value of goalies? Holy f***... Pittsburgh drafting goalies number 1 overall, goalies like Luongo getting huge contracts, and now this.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Haha, Bernier still has to be resigned. This is gonna be a s*** show.

havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 #FireNonis What a f***ing waste of assets.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Maple Leafs are doing Maple Leafs things once again.
Pulk_Pull Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Call me crazy, I like the move. Frattin, while a nice piece was blocked on the wing and expendable given the winger market and Leafs upcoming depth. Scrivens was gone either way, RFA and it was clear the Leafs wanted an upgrade. 2nd stings but I like that it's the Leafs choice between 2014/15. If Reimer can't handle this competition, he's not a real #1. Great upside to see a potential 1a/1b combo, with Bernier having the skill set to potentially a high ceiling goalie. And as others have said, Reimer has had three different injuries in the past 2 years, he hasn't proven he can be that 60 game goalie yet. Not a waste of assets to now have goaltending locked up for the Leafs for the short term and what appears to be the future.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Lol went on the Leafs board and pretty much all of them think this is a good trade. They deserve 45 years of losing.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 The only thing that can save Nonis here is if both Reimer and Bernier play well, and they trade one of them to another team that overvalues goalies, and get a bigger return.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Lol went on the Leafs board and pretty much all of them think this is a good trade. They deserve 45 years of losing. Because 95% of those guys on HFboards think James Reimer is a product of Randy Carlyle's system. I went to the Leafs board a few days ago, and they're all singing the praises of Carlyle for leading the Leafs back into the playoffs. I mean sing his praises and even guys like Orr (Contract extension?) and McLaren, but bash the one guy that dragged this team into the playoffs and within one minute of defeating the powerhouse Bruins? Absolutely unbelievable. "Hey kid, you had an unbelievable year and we probably wouldn't have come close to qualifying for the playoffs without your services, but we still don't trust you at all. Sorry for leaving you dry all those nights with Holzer and Kostka attempting to be competent NHL defenders, but at the end of the day you should have stopped those pucks in the third period of game 7. We lost because of you not making those saves, and not because we sat back for the last 10 minutes of the third, or because we failed to cover the points for the 300th game in a row. So yeah kid thanks for saving our asses on numerous occasions this season, but we trust Randy Carlyle and his great defensive system more than your goaltending".
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Blackhawks tie it up with a minute or so to go in game 6 with the goalie pulled Thery're gonna win this thing

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 So the Leafs got linked to Letang and everyone is going batshit. Also, here's a stupid Leafs fan for everyone to lol at: "Trade phaneuf for gagner and get letang with bozak and our first" some dumbass on facebook
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 I legit don't think the Leafs have the assets for Letang. With their stable of young d-men, Pittsburgh will be more interested in assets from other teams than in Rielly/Gardiner. And that's about all the Leafs have to offer. I think we have the assets, but we'd have to overpay, or it wouldn't make cap sense for PIT, it's just not a good fit I don't think. I'm praying but not expecting. I think (this isn't rumored, this is a theory) that they're super interested in Reimer. They see that he's not starting anymore, they see that he was f***ing amazing last year, and Fleury is trash, and Reimer's at a ridiculous 1.8mm cost. He's pretty much perfect for Pittsburgh.

Reporter B: Really? For who? Reporter A: Bozak and a 1st. Reporter B: @SomeRandomDude speculates that the Leafs are interested in Letang. More to cum! #derp Bob McKenzie: The f*** you guys talking about? #DENIED Reporter A: Now I'm hearing the Leafs are interested in trading Phaneuf for a physical forward!

It's amazing how much criticism Reimer has taken from the media including his own teams fanbase. I guess even this F.O. doesn't even trust him for whatever reason. What more could you have asked out of Reimer last season? Dude was legit.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 It's really amazing and almost sad reading Leaf fans views of opposing players in the league. Like I seriously think most Leaf fans ONLY watch Toronto maple leaf hockey and never catch a single game that involves 2 other teams. Like Hfboards, man that place has the worst sports homers I have ever seen. Some of the debates on player vs player.....OH man. Anyways we prolly do have the assets to grab Letang considering Pitt has a unnecessary boner for Kulemin (Malkins best buddy lol) and the fact Letang is a UFA after next season and the Pens prolly wont want to give him 6-6.5 million per. Prolly something like one of Gardiner/Rielly, Kulemin and 2013 first rounder.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Tortorella was on OTR today and was actually not being a dbag. Said he's going to "try" to be more interactive with the media. Does not apologize for any of his past actions.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 NHL draft day!!! 2 teams have 3 first round draft picks.. expect an exciting first round. Leafs pick 21st, 51st, 82nd, 117th
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Letang signs 8 years, 58mil... lol lockout
