Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Happ's extension never looked awful to begin with. He should be considered a solid trade chip at this point. Yeah. Happ's 4.82 xFIP and 36% GB rate look sexy in the RC.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 BNightengale Corey Hart is torn between re-signing with the #Brewers and another club that may be the #Mariners Do it AA I could get on-board with this. Sign Hart, trade Lind to the Mariners for Franklin+
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hart is an intriguing option. How much for Hart? He can sure hit lefties .290/.359/.534/.893
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I could get on-board with this. Sign Hart, trade Lind to the Mariners for Franklin+ I want Hart and Lind on the team at the same time Unless you can trade Lind for something else we need...
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 If the Mariners did sign him, they would probably trade one of Smoak or Montero, I would think.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hart is an intriguing option. A cheap intriguing option
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Can Hart play RF anymore? He played 1/3 of his games in the OF last year. How well? No idea.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 He played 1/3 of his games in the OF last year. How well? No idea. He missed a full year due to injury, not sure what he's like now. Any reports? Had surgury on both knees.. sounds like he's more of a 1B option
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 If the Mariners did sign him, they would probably trade one of Smoak or Montero, I would think. The bust brothers! Need fresh starts! Hey, does Montero catch any more? At all??
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I want Hart and Lind on the team at the same time Unless you can trade Lind for something else we need... Hart, Lind and EE <------------- 3 DH at same team
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I want Hart and Lind on the same team That would be nice, but he's definitely not signing here as a platoon guy, so unless we feel he can play the outfield still ... Swapping Hart and Lind would probably be a wash in money (might even save us a little). If we can also fix 2nd base at the same time, it seems like a no-brainer. I would be sad to lose Lind, but I think it would be worth it.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I want Hart and Lind on the team at the same time Unless you can trade Lind for something else we need... Yup, it would be a perfect platoon and Hart would also get a bit of time in LF. A move like this would make our lineup much deeper and it likely won't cost anything too significant.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 The bust brothers! Need fresh starts! Hey, does Montero catch any more? At all?? Struggled as a catcher and Mariners were quick to pull the plug on that. Not sure if he reached JP level though
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hart, Lind and EE <------------- 3 DH at same team Yeah good point OK, trade Lind, sign Hart #VetrinPresenz Lind has like NO presence

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 If the Mariners did sign him, they would probably trade one of Smoak or Montero, I would think. Hard to get too excited about Montero right now. I think Smoak would be somewhat intriguing, but not a great fit atm for us.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Mariners looking for righties.. probably have no interest in Lind. Unless they trade away smoak and we send them lind + for franklin lol jays need to do something....
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Hard to get too excited about Montero right now. I think Smoak would be somewhat intriguing, but not a great fit atm for us. Both intriguing buy lows but not the right move for this team right now Wasn't Montero "The best player Cashman ever traded"? Prospects = gambles. Always.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Yeah good point OK, trade Lind, sign Hart #VetrinPresenz Lind has like NO presence Lind Vs R = Hart Vs L Lind is healthy, Hart is ????
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 12:46pm: The Mariners are indeed in on Hart, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, who notes that GM Jack Zduriencik drafted Hart when he was Milwaukee's scouting director back in 2000.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 The Nationals have acquired Jerry Blevins from the Athletics in exchange for outfield prospect Billy Burns, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter).
Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Lind + Hart = 1.100 OPS DH Would be one of the best #5 hole hitting platoons in the game. Plus Hart would get plenty of games in the OF as a primary backup in RF and LF and would be the primary bat off the bench. Should easily get almost regular playing time when injuries are thrown into the mix.

AA and Gibbons say they want to upgrade the RH hitting off the bench This is the guy to do it on a 1-2 year deal Hope he's trying
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Doubt he signs to be a platoon/bench/injury backup when he can play full-time, most likely for more money with brewers or mariners.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 JonHeymanCBS now corey hart is headed for #mariners, according to sources. 1 year deal. will likely bat behind cano.
