Second time this has happened. The Braves seem like a bunch of dickheads, policing the old laws of the game or something.

Truth bombs.

There's nothing wrong with a little swagger now and again; all of the other leagues have it.

He stood there for way to long. Jose pushes it a bit far, and then theres what Gomez did.

Obviously I have no idea what was said or who started the chirping, but if a player ever deserved one in the ribs for something Gomez would be near the top of the list for that nonsense.

Love how McCann stops him from getting to home plate and starts yelling at him

The standing there is part of it. But then he starts chirping loudly at Freeman and the pitcher as he rounds the bases. f*** that.

Freeman, McCann and Maholm chirped first. Gomez merely responded.

Are you nut?

Gomez hit a HR and stayed stand up at home plate.

Anyone else just hear the announcers in the Seattle game saying that KC got Boni because he was caught in a numbers game in Toronto that (paraphrasing) caused him to not get enough playing time and rot on the bench?

Yeah, it was a numbers game all right, but it was his own numbers.

Oh, is that what he did? I couldn't see that. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Gomez: “If I’m the catcher, I do the same thing. His (job) is to protect his pitchers, protect your teammates and it is what it is.

"I respect McCann. All his players, I’m apologizing to his manager, the organization."

Who the f*** does McCann think he is? He and Freeman created this story, not Gomez.

Retaliation is done by pitching inside (or hitting) Gomez the next time he's up. You don't try to block him from touching the plate.

He probably just told him that "he can't do that up here" and gave him a ticket.

Cano asked for 300m from Yankees.

He won't get it from them, but for sure he'll get it from the Angels :)

10Ys/305M

ridiculous, but good strategy.

Absolutely insane. I don't want anyone giving any player that kind of contract. It's sickening.

The Yankees really do almost need to keep him, but there's a price point Cashman won't cross and that's well beyond it I'm sure.

I just really can't see it as a worthwhile risk. I mean, look at how huge of a bust Pujols and Hamilton have been..

Add ARod, their very own 10 year contract mistake

Stop giving guys 10 year contracts! It's insane!!!

Robinson Cano Seeking Ten Years, $305MM

by Steve Adams, Sep 26 at 9:18 AM CST

With the Yankees officially eliminated from playoff contention, much of the focus on the team will shift to Robinson Cano's impending free agency, and it could be more expensive than any had imagined. According to ESPN's Buster Olney (Twitter link), Cano is seeking a ten-year contract worth $305MM as he heads into free agency.

A contract of that magnitude would be the largest commitment in Major League history, but Cano's track record of elite production gives him the ability to seek something historical. Over the past five seasons, Cano is batting .314/.369/.531, averaging 160 games and 28 homers per season. A solid defender at second base, Cano has been worth an average of 6.4 WAR (per Fangraphs) or 7.5 WAR (per Baseball-Reference) over the past four seasons, depending on which version of the metric you prefer.

Actually I don't know what I want more - for the Yankees to let him walk and have a replacement level 2B next year, or cave and give him an ARod contract that means they can't afford to pick up another decent FA forever.

Time and time again we've wanted the Yankees to financially suffer from bad investments, but they always seem to just shrug it off.

I'd rather much have another team get hampered and set them back significiantly, like the Angels or Baltimore.

Can you imagine the fallout in New York for them not being able to resign their best player after a season where they missed the playoffs? If they don't resign him and fail to make a splash this offseason heads will roll.

That's the pressure that Cashman is under. They really have no other really good position players that they can bank on being good over the next few years. All are either old, injured, suspended, or free agents this off season, or a combination of the above. They're in deep s*** either way.

If Trout was on our team and would sign a team friendly 10 year contract, would you do it?

That's completely irrelevant. The 10 year contracts that the Yankee's give out could not be considered even remotely "team friendly." Also, Trout is almost a decade younger than Cano. 10 years of prime production>3 or 4 years of prime production and 6 years of declining production.

At age 21 maybe

But Cano ain't 21

And $305 million isn't team friendly

I should have been more specific. Let me try again.

Stop giving 30+ year olds 10 year financially crippling contracts! It's insane!!!
