theblujay Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 So Alvarez had another good start: 6IP 2H 0ER 1BB 5K and he hit a double. Marisnick also got his first hit.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Wouldn't be surprised if they already had some preliminary discussions. The anticipation is just so frustrating because I am hoping AA pulls off a couple deals with the excess relievers and JJ and/or Buehrle, but its a very real possibility nothing happens either. I've been nervous he'll do nothing ever since he said JJ is in the Jays future. The fact they still have excess relievers and Bonofocio is almost a crime at this point. 2014 should be the focus and all these extra guys are clogging up the roster and preventing other guys from being tested. I wonder if Rajai Davis might be moved.

Well known as being one of the biggest on field ass holes in the game. Screw him. That said, a big time charity supporter and off field nice guy. Still, screw him! Grow up and behave David!
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 How was strike 2 not a strike? It wasn't up. Ortiz thought it was. It was borderline outside by the time it finished breaking but that's close. Good pitch. And just an FYI to everyone on the on screen zones we see on TV or in the Internet, they use a 3 camera triangulation, with one camera obscured by the hitter when the ball reaches the plate. Probable path based on trajectory is used in part by the program to determine strike or ball. Here's the news flash. The plate is 17 inches wide and the computerized zone can be off by 4-5 inches in, out, up and down.
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 More on that. The program in its early stages once showed a Greg Maddux pitch to be 7 inches outside. An overhead camera in the Astro Dome showed it to start inside, cross most of the plate and sweep across way outside but splitting the plate. The program put the pitch way outside based on improbability of that much late break. The system is flawed.

Caper Verified Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Ortiz is a f***ing idiot Was a pretty bad call though. But the way he took the pitch was a bit of a show up on the umpire.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Report: Alex Rodriguez could be suspended for the rest of this year and all of next season. lol good.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I don't know what the current record is, but I have a feeling Jose Fernandez just set the record for most strikeouts in a game by a 20 year old. 13 K, 0 BB through 7 IP.
