Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Happ isn't old lol. But agreed on other points. Just don't like seeing such a good young starter demoted. The average player is around 28, Happ turns 31 in October. He's old and not very durable. Meh, that's not thaaaaat old. Has he had any other injuries? All I can think of are two freak liner injuries. Pitchers prime = 28-29 years old
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 Pitchers prime = 28-29 years old I'm quite sure this has been demonstrated to be untrue
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Pitchers prime = 28-29 years old That's been shown to be more true for hitters. Pitchers, imo, are much more variable. Some peak at like 23, others are still good into late 30s. Even if it were true there are so many exceptions that you can only take it on a case by case basis.

mitchf Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Why is the baseball media largely full of idiots? Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Mike Trout has a 1.137 OPS this month, but Angels still haven't taken off. Funny team.
bzapple Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Kinsler DL'd, Profar called up. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130519&content_id=48006740&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Miggy just hit a 440ft opposite field home run. I believe he's also now hitting over .500 with risp this year.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 So this Mariano Rivera is kinda amazing. http://mlb.mlb.com/assets/images/custom/Rivera_broken_bat_gif_ddyfo4wi.gif

DwightDM Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Gomes has been pretty good with the bat since being recalled, just to make the Aviles for Ishmael trade a little more painful.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Yan Gomes with a walk-off HR. Damn Indians. Yan Gomes TWO home runs today Nice!
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Lester looking human so far in Chicago--giving up a 3-run HR to Adam Dunn. 4-0 Chicago(De Aza just doubled). Both he and Buchholz have to lose sooner or later..although Lester is more likely to lose first--Buchholz has much better peripherals.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Can someone please explain to me why Anthony Rendon is still in AA? He's 22 and has a .350/.485/.660 line through 29 games, makes no sense to me.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 More umpire trouble--Eric Cooper just blew a call in the Yankees/O's game... Wieters was safe by a mile.

He's 22 and has a .350/.485/.660 line through 29 games, makes no sense to me. Maybe it's one of those "we keep our best prospects in AA" situations... Might be more convenient to bring him up from there? (I don't know the geography). Unless they have a glaring need for him on the MLB roster, I guess.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 More umpire trouble--Eric Cooper just blew a call in the Yankees/O's game... Wieters was safe by a mile. Are these umpires getting dumber or just louder?
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Ryan Zimmerman blocking him--plus they'd rather give at-bats to Mike Constanzo in AAA. Just doesn't make sense. Get him up to AAA already!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Lester getting knocked around, and White Sox up quickly on Boston 5-2 Go White Sax!!!

bzapple Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Nice to see Baltimore crashing back down to earth. Yeah, but I also wouldn't mind seeing Overbay and Wells crash back down to earth.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Agree, big time Problem is Yanks gotta lose some games Or we need to accept that the Yankees will win division and we aim for 2nd/wild card Or I could let my bubble burst completely and accept that we're not making the playoffs this year I'm gonna stop typing now cause my expectations are dropping line by line

digiblader Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Right now we're chasing Boston and Detroit---Tigers have bullpen issues(did you see the Texas series?), and Boston has to cool off sooner or later. And we'll get our chances vs. Baltimore this weekend.

digiblader Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Now it's tied. Markakis just hit a 2B. I hope they stay tied for a while so that the O's waste the Yankees pen, although considering what happened vs. the Rays, that's going to be a tough sell for the O's.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Although they did clobber the Twins recently..but that's a bad team that's played over its head.
