LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 4-3 Boston. Rodney blows, literally. (the save, but maybe men too idk)
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Seattle hangs on to win! 8 games back now
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 With a sweep this weekend, we could cut it to 5... As for Boston--this is the 2nd time in two weeks Rodney's blown a save(but only his 2nd BS of the season, surprisingly.) Still, the Rays have a shot in the 9th--who's going to close for Boston tonight?
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Scott, Zobrist and Longoria are due up for the Rays in the 9th--unless Boston gets more runs, they're going to need to tread carefully..
Caper Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Geeze, the Ms hang on by their short and curlys.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Darn Rodney... good thing the O's were idle. Hopefully the Rays save their wins for the Orioles series..
Arkadium Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Red Sox hang on to win, 4-3. Wow...... Rodney you dick.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 This is funny. Japan league. Batter calls it a home run off the bat but the LF catches it. The first baseman has to convince dude he's out. LOL. @Buster_ESPN: For those who missed what could be the best baseball clip of the year: http://t.co/Dsx0QP2xcQ
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 This is turning into a GDT for baseball!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 This is turning into a GDT for baseball! Maybe that's a thread we should create. Let this one be more for moves / injuries / etc?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 In the second half last year we'd have Scoreboard Watching Threads, it worked out really well. If there's interest (15+ posts per night), we could have one daily, or go with one for the whole season. I'd go for the whole season. Don't want to have a ton of those cluttering the board. I like the idea, though.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Or! This thread could continue to be used for exactly what it's supposed to be used for - a combination of things from around baseball. If that's keeping us updated on significant ongoing games, cool. If it's reporting news, also cool. I don't see the need for another thread. There are already enough "The Official so-and-so Thread" threads. Why complicate it?

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Or, you could ever so gently insert a penis in your mouth? What exactly does me gently inserting a penis into my mouth accomplish? Your dumn.
Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Not sure if this was posted before however I just came across it - Guess the bad umpire decisions kinda forced this eh? MLB hoping for large replay expansion in 2014 NEW YORK (AP) -- Major League Baseball hopes to expand video review by umpires for the 2014 season and says all calls other than balls and strikes could be subject to instant replay. Commissioner Bud Selig and MLB executive vice president Joe Torre say they still can't commit to expanded replay for next year. Torre hopes to have proposals by the August owners' meeting. Replay has been in place for potential home run calls since August 2008. Selig initially wanted to add trap plays and fair/foul calls down the lines, but Torre said a far larger expansion is possible. Selig and Torre spoke Thursday after a quarterly owners' meeting. Torre made his presentation to owners following two high-profile mistakes by umpires last week. Says Torre: ''Have we had a bad week or so? Yeah.'' Link: http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/mlb-hoping-large-replay-expansion-164806860--mlb.html I can see balls and strikes being a bit tedious, but I'd like to see something along the lines of an NFL instant replay policy adopted. Where manages get 2 or 3 challenges per game and maybe have to sacrifice an out or something if the call is not overturned. I hate seeing 1 run games in the ninth where a team has 2 runners on and the ump makes a bad call to end an at bat. Or a check swing call goes the same way and helps end the game. I know I said balls and strikes might be tedious, but I think if they just limited the challenges it would be ok. How many times have we even seen a guy score at home and an ump make a horrific call that changes the outcome of a game? Guys not even getting tagged at home plate and the ump makes an out call, completely changing momentum of the game. I don't think it's just me, I've been watching this game for 3 decades, but the umpires are getting worse and worse all the time. Worse yet, they are becoming uber aggressive when confronted. I think there needs to be an avenue to show these f***ing idiots that they're not right all the time. Close games in the ninth are being decided so many times by bad f***ing calls and something needs to be done about it. About the only penalty I can think of for a bad challenge would be an out, which would definately make things more interesting for managers who decide to challenge a call in the ninth when they are down, but maybe that's what is needed so that teams aren't challenging every debateable call.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Terrible night for Baltimore--the "punchless" Rays offense has 12 runs on them(Hammel, Alex Burnett, Patton). Better hope Jurrjens pitches well tomorrow... And Boston is struggling against Vance Worley, a bad pitcher for the Twins.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Shut the hell up Raysjays Matt Harvey is kinda f***ing awesome. Drives in the winning run and shuts down the Cubs. Thought Rizzo had hit one out in the 9th off of Parnell but it stayed in the park.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Reds send Tony Cingrani to Triple-A, call up Neftali Soto. AG is a genius
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Reds send Tony Cingrani to Triple-A, call up Neftali Soto. AG is a genius WTF WHY? 3.08 xFIP 3.27 ERA for the dumn GMs 11.18 K/9 2.45 BB/9 The kid is a stud, no clue why he's getting sent down
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 WTF WHY? 3.08 xFIP 3.27 ERA for the dumn GMs 11.18 K/9 2.45 BB/9 The kid is a stud, no clue why he's getting sent down No, he's not (20% HR/FB) 91% fastball (maximum amount MLB pitchers and a lot of Dingers) Cingrani needs to work on his secundary stuff
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 No, he's not (20% HR/FB) 91% fastball (maximum amount MLB pitchers and a lot of Dingers) Cingrani needs to work on his secundary stuff 20% HR/FB is getting unlucky lol xFIP normalizes the HR/FB to league average and Cingrani, if he'd get luckier with the balls flying out, would have a lower ERA Although a 91% fastball rate is pretty ridonkulous
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Mike Leake's been pitching well too, you can only have five guys in your rotation. Like Angrioter said, Cingrani has a lot of stuff to work on. He's been succeeding but needs to make adjustments for long-term success. Leake would be a nice trade chip to fill a hole. It's amazing, CIN has all this depth, and none of them ever get f***ing injured. We have 0 depth, and all the injuries.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 The Reds are built on young pitchers who have little injury history: Cueto, Bailey, Leake, Latos. And Arroyo never gets hurt. The Reds have identified that young pitchers who don't get hurt will likely continue to not get hurt. JJ and Morrow do get hurt, and Dickey, Buehrle, and Happ are old. It's not all bad luck. Mike Leake's okay, but I doubt he brings that much in return. He's valuable to them, having an extra starter in a good thing and their team doesn't have any holes anyway. Happ isn't old lol. But agreed on other points. Just don't like seeing such a good young starter demoted.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 The average player is around 28, Happ turns 31 in October. He's old and not very durable. Meh, that's not thaaaaat old. Has he had any other injuries? All I can think of are two freak liner injuries.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Anyone watching the Orioles Rays game? I'm pretty sure Molina just hit it out and the umps reviewed and called it a double. The ball landed on top of the wall, and in Camden Yards there is a wall of concrete right behind the wall. It appeared to make contact with the concrete, which would mean it was a home run. The ball bounced back into the field. Oh for the love of f***, not this again. Stupid umps.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Jim Johnson with a blown save, coughed up 5 runs in the top of the ninth to the Rays.
