I'm a longtime Jays fan but this is the first time I've signed up for a Jays message board. I'm generally not as down on the front office as most others on this board. My thought is they gambled last offseason and it didn't pan out, and now they have to regroup a bit and see what they've got this year before doing anything too dramatic. Would have liked to have seen a little more done in the off-season, but am prepared to give them another year to right the ship.

Anyway, I look forward to some good discussion and debate.

Welcome my friend!

Is AA a good GM?

What do you think about Arencibia?

Can Goins stick?

I think the Jury's still out on AA. He did a pretty good job of restocking the farm system, in my opinion, and I don't think anyone could have predicted how poorly the moves he made last off season have turned out. We'll see how this season and the following off season turns out.

Arencibea? I'm glad he's gone.

I think Goins could stick. If given some time, I think there's a decent chance that his offence will be slightly below average or better, which in my mind would be balanced by his defence.

I'd bet my entire life savings on this never happening.

I wouldn't bet my life savings(if I had any:)), but I do agree that is not likely he will even be an average hitter. Having said that, with his defence, I would give him the chance. If he can get his walk rate up to where it was in the minors and improve his overall hitting ability with experience, he might prove to be a serviceable major leaguer.

AA is going into his fifth season... how much longer of a leash is he going to get? At some point you have to start winning.

I'm more inclined to look at the actual moves he has made than winning and losing, or even how the moves eventually turn out. He has made some bad moves, but I think he's made a lot more good ones. If JJ had pitched like he should have, and Reyes hadn't gotten injured, the marlins trade would be looking pretty good right now. I also think that the Melky signing was a good move as you can't predict a tumour in the spine. I think that they overpaid for Dickey, but after the Marlins trade and the Melky signing, I think it was worth overpaying to give them a chance to contend.

Obviously, none of these moves turned out last year, but I think the vast majority of people thought it was a great off season by AA and rightly so.

His ceiling is Darwin Barney 2012 IMO (without the base running).

I can live with that at second base if I'm getting enough offence elsewhere.

Ryan Goins is already 26 though and he's had 2286 pro plate appearances. He is who he is at this point. And that's not a very good hitter.

I don't think he has to be

Ryan Goins is 26, he's what he's; Goins decline curve started. We have saw his best years.

Hey guys, so I just failed at posting a full size pic in a thread, any tips to doing this? Preferably a quick step-by-step.

I didn't know where else to post this.

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this forum, I look forward to engaging in some great Jays talk this season with you.

I have a weekly podcast called The Dugout, and often do player/media interviews.

I'm also writing a book this year, based on interviews mainly with HOF players.

I also post regular articles on my blog, I hope you don't mind me posting a link for it here: www.thebluejaysdugout.com

Here's to a great season!

When you login it seems to redirect you to an invalid url. http:/bluejaysmessageboard.com

You get an error message and have to click on the forum icon again

Obv not a big deal but a mild annoyance that hopefully you can fix

Is it still doing it?

Still have an error I'm trying to fix and it's really starting to bug me.

What's up with some people from this message board hijacking the TB Rays message board yesterday?

No idea, sorry.

1. Seems to be fixed

2. Seemed like a good idea at the time :)

For whatever reason, this board (the only website I've encountered so far) for the longest time would not let me post or send PMs from my phone. The keyboard would pop up and then immediately retreat back down. It was fine for all other sites.

It worked today (for the first time in months), peculiarly right after the fix last night. Did you change something?

Just FYI.

I've had this happen. You just press delete first and then it works.

Delete on the keyboard?

I doubt it's part of any of your issues, but in the chrome console it says there's a syntax error in piwik.js, and a typeerror in forum.php line 1280.

You also don't appear to have server compression enabled.

Yep I just hit delete in the keyboard a few times and then it stayed.

Thanks, but that did not work, unfortunately. I'll try it some more, as it's acting up again.

I uninstalled piwik, that shouldn't be there at all anymore.

Where do you see the error in chrome? Bottom corner? I'm not getting any error in Chrome.

That's strange. Do you use that tapatalk or whatever?

I don't. I use IE on my Windows Phone. I use the full browser edition of the site. Actually, it doesn't automatically convert it to the mobile version like my tablet does.

I'll have to see if I can find anything on that. I think that has happened on other sites on my phone as well.

In the developer console. Seems to have changed now, but is saying that there's a null style set. Still seeing the Piwik one, but that will probably go when caching changes.

I wonder if the site is only optimized for Android users. My tablet is Android, and it automatically converts to the mobile version; my phone doesn't. If I change the skin in my account to show the mobile version, then it's even mobile on my PC. If that's currently the only fix for my phone, that's a lot less than ideal.

It works right for me on iPhone using chrome.

I just changed the stylesheets so hopefully that clears up too.

Also the forum uses gzip compression, from what I've read.
