TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 oops. I thought you joined that one. I opened both up to the public. If people really want to post on their they can.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Just a suggestion, but maybe think about moving the chatbox to the bottom of the forum? I think it might be more optimal to have the forum links show up near the top, but that's just my opinion.
admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 I'll see what everyone prefers. The downside of putting it at the bottom is it will probably eventually stopped being used as no one really sees it. I'll have to look if there's an option to turn it off completely for individual users. Also, added facebook and twitter buttons to share the forum and posts. So everyone feel free to share the forum on those platforms!

admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 You click "save" when you log in? I think that will prevent you from loggingout. But I'll find it and extend it anyways. It's set for 15 minutes, I changed it to 20. Not sure what the point of even logging someone out is. Maybe security feature if you're on a public computer.

admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks, I'm going to try and figure out the best way to do it. A lot of guys have offered. I just want to make sure no one lets their emotions get in the way. And we've all had heated arguements, so I don't want any impulsive bannings or deletions. Which is why I, myself am trying to stay out of it lol.

IP bans are only to be carried out by the you and Hurl and all 3 mods. WARNINGS can be levied by any of the MOds or admins. that gives accountability----- just social structure ideas.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I really hope this takes off. We need this to be successful. Great job on the board, admin!
admin Site Manager Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 TBH, I don't even think you'll get many ban-worthy accounts. Trolls will stay away from a forum they know is actively moderated. Yeah, but there will be the rare one. Plus it probably eats at them that they can't troll it, so they might try. just thoughts for how things can flow easily here. take a couple different types of mods. take a younger one, avg board age and a little older person. give them Mod privileges for a limited time. if they perform well and do things as you think they should be, then extend them. if not, thank them and find a new person. any bans should be agreed to by all 3 mods. Yeah those are some good points. I really hope this takes off. We need this to be successful. Great job on the board, admin! Thanks. It's the members here that will make it a success. I will do what I can to make it the best I can, but in the end it's the member engaging and keeping it alive. With the regulars here, and once the forum gets established and some exposure, regular new members will be coming in, and the forum will thrive.

I want to be here and try to give support and suggestions for how we can get this place to the best baseball forum out there. a couple hundred very good posters can make this place very special.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I am sure this forum will do well. As for trolls, I agree with BTS, they won't bother and if they try they will give up quickly. The only reason the old forum is a complete mess is because the mod did nothing and the trolls knew this. Just the threat of active mods will be a major deterrent.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for the welcome thread, looking forward to reading serious talk about what the Blue Jays and baseball in general as well as participating.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for setting this up guys. Looks great so far.
bzapple Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 New board looking good, looks like a good chunk of the regulars have already made the jump. Hopefully this begins a new golden age of Blue Jays baseball discussion. I'm willing to mod if you want, although I'm sure there are plenty of posters who would do a good job.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Maybe you should do something in terms of like a lottery every three months for moderators. Put every name in a hat and draw 5 names for May-July... 5 different names for July-Sept. It'll keep it fresh and it'll prevent moderators from going too crazy with the ban hammer.
kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for setting up this forum. It looks pretty snazzy.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 If people want this thing to work they have to actively post. One of the major appeals with the old board used to be that there would always be new content and fresh discussion. If regulars simply post a few times a day this thing won't last.

sdyment Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Just wanted to add my thanks to everyone who was involved in setting this new forum up. I got banned during the great sweep a few weeks ago because I told the moderator to Wake The F@#$k Up in one of the troll threads. I just never bother re-registering. I hope this place works out. Thanks again!!! Glad to be here.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Great looking board, excellent job!
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for setting this! It is sad the old forum will die, but hopefully this works out.
bzapple Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I wonder what dogg will do now. I mean, I guess he still has his other personalities to keep him company, but I'm pretty that old board was all he had...
sdyment Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I've looked through my settings, but don't see a place to make it so that when you open a thread, it opens to the last read page instead of page one. Anybody got any suggestions?? Thanks.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) It would be nice if the fantasy leagues had their own forum, but if they're going to stay in the off-topic one, can we get them stickied and remove one of the duplicate league 2 ones (plus the league 3 one on the main forum)? Also like to remind fantasy people that you can subscribe to the threads, so that you're notified when new posts are made you may have interest in. Edited May 5, 2013 by Abomination
Hemingways007 Verified Member Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Hey I am really liking the new forum. I had to get away from the old one, it has become too ridiculous and full of trolls to use. I am experiencing the same issue as GordieDougie, where when I try to set an avatar, and I'm in "edit avatar", my only option is "do not use an avatar". Some help would be greatly appreciated thanks!
