Players who combine age, production, and upside like Vlad are rare — and teams pay a premium for that. If it's not the Jays then someone else will.
Add in the fact that he’s durable (playing 150+ games in three straight seasons) and has already proven he can thrive in a major market, (while being THE FACE of the franchise) and you’re looking at someone who can anchor our lineup for a decade. With the way the market’s trending, $500M to extend for our franchise cornerstone isn’t unreasonable at all.
