  1. From Arden Zwelling and Ben Nicholson-Smith on At The Letters about Bassitt: On Bassitt's frustrations playing into his comments: Zwelling opines that the Blue Jays offseason can't be criticized because no one knows the full extent of how it played out outside of 12 people: Ben disagrees with Zwelling by saying it's known what they actually did, and they can be judged on that. Not sure it can be said the bolded is true, that the fanbase was optimistic about the team heading into the season: Ben repeats a point he made earlier which I bolded: Oddly specific unprompted denial from Zwelling below: Zwelling also makes an interesting comment referring to Ross as a "protagonist", although the questions they commonly get about Ross are about if he's going to get fired. Zwelling calling ross Ross a "protagonist" in this context could be seen as a biased view of him: https://www.sportsnet.ca/podcasts/at-the-letters/summer-storylines/
  2. It was probably luxury tax considerations like you said. Otherwise calling him up for a sendoff game/series wouldn't have hurt them in any way.
  3. The part where they were talking about Votto they just said that Votto and the team didn't care about playing against the Reds for the narrative. Davidi said Votto only wants to get called up if his play dictates it. Votto all season has been treating himself like he's a prospect. Probably wants to feel young again.
  4. From Shi Davidi, seems to confirm that the front office wanted Bassitt to clarify his comments. Also speaks of the Jays facing some hard truths internally as an organization. https://www.sportsnet.ca/590/blair-barker/little-league-vibes-bos-future-wheres-votto/
  5. More from Bassitt after Zwelling and Davidi asked him to clarify his comments:
  6. Bassitt made some interesting comments in an interview recently: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/chris-bassitt-thinks-vlad-guerrero-jr-will-be-a/id1555532184?i=1000665856903
  7. Yankees might have just raised the odds of a Votto callup.
  8. Will Wagner is getting called up tomorrow. Luis De Los Santos back to Buffalo.
  9. What if Soto gets big deferrals too?
  10. He said a lot of people in the industry pushed back on that and called him a moron.
  11. Passan seems to have changed his tune very quickly on Vlad.
  12. From Shi Davidi https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/unsettled-blue-jays-facing-many-issues-including-where-to-begin/
  13. ZiPS 2025 currently projects the Jays to have a top 25 player starting at every position except 3B, which should be a good base to build from heading into the offseason. Kirk projects as the 6th best C with 2.9 fWAR Schneider 7th at 2B with 3.2 Bichette 9th at SS with 3.8 Jonatan Clase 14th at LF with 2.1 Springer 18th at RF with 1.8 Varsho 24th at CF with 2.1 Horwitz 24th at 1B with 1.4 and Vlad would project to have the 5th best wRC+ at DH
  14. Passan's word >> Stark's word
  15. Passan making a lot of sense here.
  16. From BNS and Blake Murphy on Jays Talk, about the 2025 budget. I copied and pasted from the episode transcript: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/blue-jays-talk/id430621876?i=1000664052034
  17. Fangraphs already updated, they now have the Jays CBT hit for 2024 at 239.6 (over) instead of 235.4 (under). Cots and Spotrac haven't updated yet.
  18. Details on the money Jays sent out for the Turner/KK/IKF trades. Not sure if the 2024 amounts are prorated or not.
  19. Read that 2 of the 3 players Jays got for Kikuchi were James Click draft picks with Houston. Could he be in the driver's seat of this FO now?
