  1. Atkins must be a goner already because Yesavage is probably good.
  2. I think people were ecstatic to get him because ownership was trying to get the literal worst executives in the game just prior.
  3. Loudest tools and projection = Morales or Pratt
  4. It's not necessarily about throwing innings, it's the fact that going 3 innings changes the parameters of your start. You know you can air it out. Stuff+ goes up. Hype goes up. But how many Ps would increase their stuff+ if they knew they could just air it for 60 pitches? And for 30 innings a year? Will his 60 pitch stuff+ even be the same at the 120th innings? Stuff+ also goes up because it's like a 2 pitch mix. What happens to your stuff+ when you have to mix in your 4th and 5th best pitch? His command sucks when he's fresh. What's it like when he's not fresh? It's like a 20 question sheet he has to answer and he basically answered the 1st question. Yes he throws hard and gets whiffs. I know Harrison is a decent comp. Is he even good? His K rate is like half of his milb rate. His stuff+ drops every month. It was 82 in June. Is he even going to last in their rotation.
  5. Dodgers were already moving Betts off short for Rojas because his glove is good. So I don't think they'd then go to Bichette when they already showed they were uncomfortable with a bad/mediocre glove SS. I think most good teams with adequate lineups would prefer a more QB type at SS. It's actually hard to find a fit for Bo. I'm guessing Arizona would sniff. He'd maybe fit BOS but I doubt they'd buy hard right now.
  6. Why would you not play a better bat at SS if the D is equal? Why would LAD put Bo at SS and Mookie RF when you could put Mookie SS and a bigger bat RF?
  7. Ricky is not a SP prospect until he does SP things. Seems logical. Said before the season, I don't know how anyone can count on him to be a SP6. It's not just being healthy but you can't just project his stuff to hold for 6 or 7 innings every 5th day unless he shows it.
  8. I'm not sure a good team would play Bo at short
  9. Stroman was maybe, I can't remember. But regardless neither were nuking teams like Kooch just did. He's a notch above
  10. I don't know how you can't sell Kikuchi in a sellers market with like 10 teams looking for SPs. AND most of them have completely superfluous parts they'd deal in a heartbeat. For example, Guardians MIFs or Orioles AAA position players.
  11. Ya there's mutants like Seager who change swing paths to match the opposing pitcher
  12. Not quite bimodal but Corbin Carroll represents what I'm talking about the most. Because of his insanely steep attack angle (which he even acknowledged), he has a 26% pop up and a 25% sweet spot which is extremely low. Just those 2 numbers can tell you his attack angle because when you swing down on a ball you're either smashing it into the ground or clipping it straight into the air. But his average launch is 10.. not that bad right? But his swing is terrible right now
  13. It's most likely some biomechanical analysis of whether an optimal VBA is even attainable for some hitters. Some orgs might even evaluate Vlads body and say it's impossible for him to have a bat path like Judge. Don't Want. His success is based solely on his ability to time up the contact point at such a specific interval, because he's on plane for 0.0000001 seconds. I don't even think hit tool is even a necessary scouting grade. You're basically looking at someone's ability to rotate fast. Which is why the Dodgers traded for Zyhir Hope (innate God tier rotation) and their natural vba. Then I guess you're looking at the ability to square the baseball. But the imparting of spin on the ball plays a bigger factor than we originally realized. I don't really know if smart teams give a s*** anymore if you can flail at a slider off the plate and make contact
  14. I should rephrase to say that I believe there's a small window where less exit velo is optimal on flares. Vlad would become Pujols with higher sweet spot %, not necessarily average launch. Because 0, 0, 42 = 14 right. There's 3 balls with no good angles but average is 14. The Orioles only draft dudes who already have good VBAs and just give them weighted bats. It's like command for hitters Freddie Freeman runs like a 50% sweet spot. When he's 40 years old and his EV dips to like 87, he'll become Arraez
  15. Sweet spot % > average launch angle. You can also hit the ball too hard to succeed on sweet spot launches.
  16. This is trending towards the most soulless corporatized experience in baseball. Everything about it feels completely autonomous. Pay your admission fee to stand in line for beers to socialize in the designated area while you watch 0.5 innings total of a team that evokes not a single ounce of emotion out of you. Led by a collection of the dumbest of AI managers who can't give you an original thought about anything and look like they have inputs from 10 people sitting around a board room. Sure, your mind might wander about being an A's fan sitting in an empty stadium banging drums and watching Joey Estes throw a complete game shutout but quickly you'll be zapped back to the reality that is your 33 year old mercenary blue Jay performing his task at an exactly league average level Forever
  17. Kikuchi can theoretically work out of the pen for a contender after helping them get there because he misses bats. Theoretically
  18. More zach pop More More
  19. He's not improving at the same rate as the league so he's falling behind. Like I said, this guy's the one we gotta dump asap
  20. Bichette is joking
  21. We're 1.5 gb out of a top 3 pick. If you're not rooting for our pitchers to develop blisters or vladdy to stub a toe, you're a bad fan
  22. Ninmala is a bet on rotational bat speed
  23. Anyone can sell. Just fire everyone and let an intern gather prospects based on fangraphs lists.
  24. Zulueta called up. 60% gb in aaa for the Reds. This one might tilt me
  25. All I know is they can't pick better than 10th. I think they go straight to 10th and 11th with no lottery balls while the teams around them get at least like 1% at 1st overall.
