  1. My top 30: Moreno O.Martinez Tiedemann Groshans Jimenez Robberse Zulueta Beltre G.Martinez Santos Lopez Juenger Carter Machado De Castro Pinto Palmer Van Eyk Kloffenstein T.Morris Taylor Meza Frasso Dallas Hernandez Danner Aponte Francis Hiraldo Britton
  2. Not having Zulueta is crazy but having Gabby Martinez way down at 30 means he's not just an oversight and that's crazy as well. Gabby Martinez should be top 15. Frasso should be in there somewhere as well.
  3. The good news is the 1 game we needed Kirk in there as DH for his 2 HRs was the game Charlie did it for. Hopefully he saw that and it tilts him in the direction of doing it more often. We lose yesterday if Jansen starts and Kirk is on the bench.
  4. I don't recall anything about a steal on draft day. A couple months later once reports came out he was throwing 2 or 3 mph harder than he had been that became a topic. Signing a guy for a hair underslot suggests he went right about where he was expected to.
  5. I think Frasso's a pen arm long term so I'd be less hesitant to start his 40 man clock than others. Zulueta as a starter is at least 2 years away so I'm not keen to add him to the pen knowing I'm burning 2 option years to continue his development as a starter in the future.
  6. It's wild that Tiedemann signed underslot at 91(by a couple thousand) in this past draft and is now a top 100 prospect. Barely top 100 from his draft when drafted(I know picks get punted etc, but given he took a bit less than 91 slot), to top 100 across years of drafts and IFA periods in less than 1 year of development. I think he's well above 100 as well, but the rise has been astronomical.
  7. Yes it's literally a question, but like deadpool said it's not a question anyone would ever say no to. It's likely more of a rhetorical signal to Espinal that Jansen is pinch hitting so be aware that if Kirk gets hurt you're moving to catcher. Espinal would already know he's the emergency catcher, having taken reps 2 years ago just in case. That's not something that you don't plan and then randomly figure out during the game. As for not knowing the rules you inferred they wouldn't use they both at the same time because of a tweet that talked about Espinal being the emergency catcher. That's not a risk if 1 of them DH's so I don't see how that tweet was relevant to whether 1 of them might DH.
  8. Saw a tweet on Sunday that basically said expect them both to be in there Tuesday. There's no concern about having to force Espinal to catch if 1 of them DH's, the risk is you lose the DH. If Jansen pinch hits in the 6th and then gets removed(which he was) and Kirk gets hurt then Jansen's already out of the game. I'd also guess that wasn't a question, but more of a signal from Charlie to Espinal that he's the emergency catcher phrased in the form of a question. Not really something designed for anyone to say no to. I'm sure Espinal likely knew that already anyway.
  9. Couldn't watch the game last night so watched it this morning without spoiling what happened. It feels like I've been watching baseball for 9 hours today
  10. Charlie needs to be fired tomorrow. He's made double digit absolutely moronic decisions this series alone. He shouldn't get off the hook because Tapia got a hit there either.
  11. The other lefty in the pen right now has 408 K's in 272.1 minor league innings, and started the year with 0 runs against in 8 minor league innings. Gage's milb K rate isn't even that good. I guess it's improved since he became a full time reliever.
  12. Gabby Martinez with another HR. He had 0 HR in 112 plate apperances in the FCL last year. Already 9 in 151 in the FSL this year
  13. I'm pretty sure there is no umpire discretion for a normal ground rule double to award the runner on 1st Home. There's only discretion if it's a ground rule double because of fan interference reaching onto the field of play which isn't technically a ground rule double at all but people call a ground rule double but is really just the umpires discretion on all runners, which on a normal double the batter, or anyone on 2nd or 3rd is obvious so the discretion usually only comes up when deciding where the runner on 1st ends up. She just seems completely unaware that a ground rule double exists, or didn't watch the play and assumed the runner will score easily.
  14. They've been doing 6 man rotations with the 6 day series, Monday off schedules so it's probably next Friday
  15. Interested if they let Tiedemann go past 5 innings here. 5 has been his limit this year but he's done it very quickly here with only 56 pitches. 1 hit, 1 HBP. 4 K's
  16. Considering they paid almost nothing for those 3 guys combined I can't wait for guy they paid a ton for in Luis Meza out of Venezuela. They really seem like they know what they're doing down there
  17. Dahian Santos done after 4.2 IP, 9 K's, just 1 hit which was a HR, 3 BB, 1 run. Last 2 batters faced were the HR and a walk. Line looked stellar before that. Just a casual 58 K's in 29.2 IP this season
  18. Wow I almost called it in the GDT after the game last night. Had Zimmer starting instead of Tapia. I guess that's a tiny upgrade on my expectations?
  19. Gotta split up the good hitters so we don't get a bunch of hits in a row. Might be a small factor with how bad we've been with RISP. When Teo and Jansen were out we were going good hitter, bad hitter, good hitter, bad hitter, good hitter, bad hitter a bunch, and the times the good hitters got on or it scoring position they were immediately followed by a trash hitter, and 2 out of the next 3 were bad because gotta split up the lefties. I'd prefer the lefties just get their own devoted 3 up, 3 down inning that we could sacrifice instead please.
  20. I don't care that neither catcher catches back to back a lot. We have 2 above average catchers. Doing a 3/2 split is fine. The issue is It's like a 1/4 split as to whether the guy who's off DH's or not and it should be at least 3/2(3 days DHing, 2 day not). Jansen catches 3 times, DH's 1, 1 day off. Kirk catches 2 days, DH's 2 days 1 day off of every 5 games. I'd probably like to make it more but Springer needs to DH once per week it seems and they often get Vlad or someone else in there another time. Catching is hard on the body so 4 out of 5 days in the lineup isn't terrible. This 3 out of 5 that they're consistently doing is brutal for 2 of our better hitters.
  21. Low leverage when he entered the game and not really close. 0.39 leverage index. Anything between 0 and 0.85 is low leverage. Yes they need to finish out the game, but using your best arm with a 4 run lead in the 9th isn't the way to do that. Even the biggest old school guy who only uses him if it's a 3 run game because save wouldn't use him here
  22. Can't wait until we need Cimber and Romano tomorrow but we have to watch Borucki close because they're not available. Actually we won't get to even watch that because the games not on TV. Thanks for the reminder Sportsnet.
  23. Danny Jansen finally figured out that if BABIP is just going to screw him forever guess he has to stop hitting balls in play. Guy has crushed the ball since May 2021. 2 HR last game, gets to hit 1 spot behind Tapia. 1 HR tonight guess he has to hit 2 spots behind Tapia tomorrow* * - If he were to play. Instead Charlie will start Kirk and Springer will DH.
  24. Gabriel Martinez has 2 HR today. Quickly shooting up prospect lists this season
