  1. That one was because he was on the 40 man and the trade was after the deadline but before the waiver deadline so he would have had to clear waivers to be moved and as a prospect they wouldn’t risk that. That system is also gone. If it is a PTBNL then it’s likely the typical here’s 3 guys decide which one you want by November kind of deal
  2. Nope. They got rid of that in 2016 after the whole Trea Turner fiasco. Newly draft prospects used to have to wait a year to be traded but could be traded as a PTBNL 6 months earlier than that. They changed it so they can now be traded the day after the World Series ends but can’t be traded as a PTBNL any earlier
  3. Pearson was top 10 at some point wasn't he?
  4. But but but Toronto has an advantage or something.... as if we don't have a smaller player pool to try to acquire players or something
  5. Did they do an update or did those above him graduate?
  6. I was going to suggest they had updated recently which they had but Groshans value hasn't changed since the offseason so perhaps they only update MLB players during the season, and prospects only get updated in the offseason.
  7. Didn't realize that thanks. I could definitely see him in the bottom third somewhere, and I'm for sure intrigued. Just think usually takes more of a sample from that type of player to get noticed, even with it being all positive since being drafted. If he keeps it up this time next year he might be top 10.
  8. Not sure when that update happened but the sample size on Palmegiani is still fairly small for a later round 22 year old in A/A+. Everyone you bolded either has more pedigree, done it longer, younger, or at a higher level, everyone except Frasso has multiple of those things in their favour. He's an interesting guy to follow, and if he keeps it up into next year he'll rise pretty quickly. It just takes a little bigger sample usually for guys that that to get moved up. Right or wrong.
  9. Who in our lineup are you pinch hitting for? Tapia when he starts slumping is about the only one and if he's starting we've got 2 good pinch hitting options on the bench already. It's easy to say Zimmer sucks and we can upgrade him with a better bat. But that upgrade is going to have to be really good for me to ever want to use them to pinch hit for anyone at which point they're probably a starter and too expensive to acquire given the opportunity cost. Zimmer is what he is, and it's not good but when your top 11 guys are as good as ours are(when Tapia doesn't suck) the 12th and 13th guys are only going to be useful as pinch runners and defensive replacements which Zimmer is fine as. Just don't try to use him as anything else.
  10. Any high school arms probably don't pitch again this year(See Tiedemann last year) with a small possible exception of Barriera since he shut himself down earlier than usual. HS hitters possibly see time in the FCL within a couple weeks. College Hitters probably split between Vancouver/Dunedin depending on their level. I figure Jimenez will get promoted soon, likely making room for Kasevich and/or Doughty. College pitchers it depends. May get shut down if they've pitched a ton. Starters who don't probably Dunedin. More advanced starters might get to go higher but they didn't pick any high college arms so perhaps none. Pen arms might get to go to Vancouver if the team feels they're more advanced.
  11. Zulu 1 inning of relief today for NH is interesting. 2 K's, 2 BB
  12. Would have been interesting if the Jays had told both Stripling and Castillo they could start todays game pending what the Jays did in the first inning. They score 5 runs, use Castillo, and save Stripling for next week against the Cards.
  13. Yes, I remember the Yankees doing that to us about 10 years ago. Might have only been 8 innings as it was in Yankee Stadium though
  14. If they trade for Soto they'll probably be trading a bunch of 6 and 7 year rentals to Washington so I wouldn't be too worried about it.
  15. Yes, this management has shown when they draft it's with a plan. They know how much it costs and all the top 12 guys will sign barring some weird unknown medical issue. The only question for the fanbase is whether they set themselves up with any extra money to sign some of the HS guys in round 11-20(besides the catcher who is confirmed to be signing)
  16. Barriera will probably get close to 4 million which is almost a million overslot. If he failed to sign we wouldn't get the 3.08 million from his slot but the 0.92 million extra that we saved from other guys signing underslot that we were planning to give him could be alloted to a HS guy later. Essentially guys drafted as backup if something happened where you didn't end up signing your planned overslot guys. Think of the Mets last year. They planned on giving Rocker 2 million overslot at 10th overall. Because of medical issues they didn't sign him. They didn't draft any highly rated HS guys late in the draft as backup so they had nobody to give that extra 2 million to which means they basically wasted it. You want to avoid that by picking a potential overslot HS guy late.
  17. 20th rounder Pace didn't know he was being drafted and turned it off after 19 rounds.
  18. Cue the excitement when we draft a highly ranked high schooler early on when in reality it'll just be insurance in case something prevents a Toman signing and we end up with leftover money.
  19. There was a pretty big drop off between Groshans and Zulueta prior to the draft IMO. It's a gap I think both Barriera and Toman fit into despite Toman being closer to the bottom end of it. Just my opinion obviously.
  20. Updated prospect list? 1. Moreno 2. Tiedemann 3. O.Martinez 4. Groshans 5. Barriera 6. Toman 7. Zulueta 8. Robberse 9. G.Martinez 10. Jimenez 11. Kasevich 12. Doughty 13. Frasso 14. Santos 15. Juenger 16. Meza 17. Beltre 18. Carter 19. Lopez 20. Van Eyk
  21. Bo, Moreno and Groshans is the maximum I could stomach and that price makes me uneasy. Not an exact science but Baseball Trade Values has that pretty close to the value of Soto. I think a catcher and a 3B/SS prospect is the obvious excess that we have. Losing Bo would hurt, but I don't think we have enough pure prospect capital to make it work without completely gutting the farm
  22. Think Brock Porter goes to Texas in the 4th round. They took Rocker at 3 and don't pick again until the 4th round. They can and will go well overslot
  23. Toman at 77 overslot, Ben Joyce at 78 underslot
  24. How do the Dodgers have the first pick of the 2nd round? Is that a their 1st round pick drops 10 slots for going over the payroll limit or something?
