    Problem is that our direct competition (Mets) have done bigger things, play in one of the best markets and is very close to Springer's home. We don't have much going for us in this scenario aside from being able to offer more money and term.

    If we are able to get Yates and Hand for almost the same price as Hendriks, that would be a massive win. Let's see how the rest of free agency unfolds to see how that contract will fare.

    Chances are slim that all those SS's hit the open market in my eyes. I'd expect to see at least a few of them re-signed before they even get to free agency. Mainly Stager, Lindor and probably Correa too with Springer most likely leaving.

    I thought he already pitched pretty damn well while he was with us minus the Yankees Fisher game. If he could stay healthy and repeat that, I'd be ecstatic.

    I didn't mean to say Walker is better than any of those guys. I thought we'd spend a bit less on Walker so we could still upgrade 3B with Turner/Bryant. That's why I said best realistic case scenario. Heck, gimme Bauer, Springer, Bryant if can wish like that. For the record, I love Shoemaker and feel he's a great buy low candidate. Guy just needs to stay healthy.

    That would be a great offseason. Shatkins have repeated that they won't be able to plug every hole in one offseason but doing that would plug some of them at least. Best realistic case scenario would be Springer, Walker and one of Bryant/Turner.
