  1. I really liked him but the guy just cant stay healthy. I'd take him as our 5th start over some of our current guys in a heart beat but we're already committed to enough bottom of the rotation guys.
  2. I wasn't saying every hitter should be able to do it. I understand power hitters not being able to bunt the ball or even wanting to do it but a hitter like Biggio has a different swing/skillset. I assume with his great eye/bat control that bunting the ball down the 3rd baseline is something he can do at minimum. Heck, the Rays use 4 OFers on him man. I just thought letting teams know he will take a free single would open the field up for him even more.
  3. Agreed. He would have to totally s*** the bed to get cut at this stage. Its a contract year so hope he gets his fat ass in shape.
  4. One thing that annoys me with him is that he shouldn't allow a shift played on him. Start bunting or learn how to hit the ball the other way for singles and even doubles to the point defenses need to play him more straight up. Then he'll have an easier time pulling the ball for a better average. There's no reason why he shouldn't be batting .270 at minimum, which would put his OBP at an elite level. He's not a big power guy so I think this is something he should be able to do.
  5. I really think we're getting Paxton. If we were the 3rd team for Bauer then I'm confident we will outbid teams for a 1 year deal for Paxton like we did with Semien. The potential for Paxton to bounce back and us getting a comp pick if he leaves sounds too sweet.
  6. Lets get everyone vaccinated and life back to normal man.
  7. DJL was the first guy I mentioned when I heard about deadening the ball. It's stupid that baseball is messing around with stuff like this since there are huge financial implications for the pitchers/weaker hitters.
  8. Lol I know. I think she was the first one and I was like whhaaatttttt but then we know what happened. All good cause I'd rather have Semien at 2B than another OFer anyways.
  9. Balls were busted lol
  10. Not at all. Just bad wording. Fixed my original post.
  11. Honestly, how many pitchers aren't injury risks? It's just the nature of the position. The amount of workhorses in this league are marginal. Just don't tie yourself down to any non elite pitcher. Cole's of the world are the slim minority.
  12. I see Springer and Bo being our 1/2. You can't move Springer out of his spot that's been so good to him unless he says so. Such a crazy deep lineup regardless.
  13. When does Brantley report to camp?
  14. But who are we to talk? We probably have the worst rotation amongst all the serious contenders in baseball. If not the worst, we're close to it lol.
  15. And I have a feeling we will make another big splash next offseason. We might remember these few years of free agency as some of the best. Obviously it will all come down to how this translates onto the field.
  16. I feel so used... lol
  17. I can see this affecting DJL a lot. Guy has a lot of cheap Homers in Yankee stadium that might become long outs now.
  18. Bauer had fun with his version of "the decision" and now he pays for it like Lebron did back then. Luckily not too many cared other than probably Mets fans lol.
  19. So call up the man in white and let's do this lol
  20. Getting an MVP will do that for anyone in almost every sport.
  21. Ya I'm with you here. Our starting rotation is already a pile of turd mostly. Why wouldn't we want to trade from a position of strength to fill a weakness? Obviously we'd all prefer signing a free agent to avoid having to give up anything but if that fails then I'm on board with a move similar to this.
  22. If we get Gonzalez, this might be the best bench we've had in recent memory. I'd be surprised if he couldn't find a role that would guarantee him more playing time though. Unless we're still trying to make a move for one of Teo/Gurriel/Biggio for a pitcher (Hendricks).
  23. Crazy how almost all those prospects ended up flaming out pretty early in their careers. It's why I never get too attached to prospects if it means we are getting proven elite MLBers. His trade for Donaldson was what turned his tenure around.
  24. Still breaks my heart thinking about that series and how it ended.
  25. His drafting and ability to swing for the fences was great too. Didn't workout in '13 but worked really well in '15. Still feel we should have won the title in '15. That was the most fun I've ever had watching baseball (was too young to enjoy the early 90s teams properly)
