Ringer article about the Jays.
It is purely on the assumption that he has taken the offseason seriously with the weight loss so we project that he will be the elite talent he was touted to be.
That's pretty much it. If things stay as is, we are going to platoon Grichuk/Tellez. It's an awesome luxury that we haven't had in a long time with players of this calibre (assuming 2020 Tellez was real).
And to be real, there are always injuries so these guys will probably be playing full time for different parts of the season.
Yaa... they said they were going to ask him whether he prefers 2B or 3B. If he could play 3B that would improve our team defense by a lot imo.
Maybe this is a wrong assumption but I feel an average to above average SS would be above average to elite at every other infield position.
Ya thats where I was going because we don't have an endless budget. I think almost everyone wants a SP to go with Ryu. After that its debatable and for me it would be a 3rd Baseman or another reliever.
Ya if we are able to pass players through a DH position, that is the best case scenario. Having a dedicated DH sucks unless the player is a game changer.
It's not just about the players getting more spotlight in the playoffs, the fans in most markets have a reason to give a s*** for longer parts of the season. Expanded playoffs let's 80% of teams and fans think they have a chance.
Usually, 50% of fans know they have 0 chance at the playoffs with like a 100 games left. If you want the casuals then you need to give them a reason to stay tuned...
If the NL gets the DH, i think there's a starting spot for him somewhere. His 2019 numbers were pretty damn good. Think we can light most 2020 numbers on fire.
Wish there was a spot for him here but Tellez seems to have his role already and also provides us a left handed bat.
BTW... it's crazy that Edwin can reach 500 HRs considering the wasted years to begin his career. I don't see it happening in 2 years at all though.
And this is assuming that those guys don't sign extensions by then. Hoping for future free agencies should never be the way to go. Ask the Raptors and how their 2021 plans went with Giannis and others...
I think its because there's so much uncertainty around the vaccines and being able to get fans back at games in full force. Owners waited long as possible to get the most accurate view financially before committing anything to the players. Not saying I agree but that would be my guess.
Ya this seems like the cheapest chance for us to get one. A 3/4 deal at 30+ seems like his value but I think our front office wants flexibility to spend next offseason. Let's see...
Ya not sure why anyone would want the Angels to get Bauer who would be our rival for a wild card spot. If the Cohen financial situation doesn't constrain the Mets payroll, I think hes going there for sure. Stay in the National League if he's not coming here.
Ya i think that's exactly how things will go. I believe McGuire is out of options so he'll be given one last chance to be the backup. If he still sucks and Kirk is tearing things up, then the obvious move is to waive Reese and call up Kirk.
Hopefully we big boy offer either him or Paxton once Bauer goes off the board. If Paxton has a big bounce back season, we could get a pick for him too lol.
We only have Ryu, Springer, Grichuk and Gurriel on actual contracts for next season, which is about 62 million. Think about the amount of money we'll have to toss around. It could be around 70 to 80 million...
