  1. That's exactly how I feel too. I really liked him and would take him over Matz and Roark in a heartbeat. There was a reason why he started Game 1 for us meaning he's seen as a top tier pitcher. Although I can see the other side too because he just can't stay healthy. It will suck if he does for Minny.
  2. I meant you can speak to every fanbase and they most will be optimistic that they are getting the best version of all their players in the offseason. Then the season starts and reality hits. Of course there's a chance but there's also a similar likelihood that the last version we saw of them can continue too. I'd prefer to hedge down the middle in those cases, which would still leave our rotation really weak in comparison to the elites of the league. And if we're trying to make the playoffs, those are the standards we need to adhere to.
  3. I understand what you're saying but you're hoping for the best scenario for all those guys. Reality usually doesn't work out that way because all teams can practically say the same for their guys too. I think you have a good argument for Ray but Pearson is still a huge unproven commodity at the MLB level for 2021. Especially if you're banking on him being in the top 3 of a playoff contender. We def need one more high end starter to slot our pitchers into a more realistic role.
  4. Yaa... just one damn pitcher to help take the pressure off Ryu and we have ourselves a dream offseason.
  5. Wow... vladdy looks like a new person. Can't wait to see spring training start!!
  6. Issue is if we make the playoffs, our rotation will be SEVERELY outmatched. I don't even think Ryu should be a teams best pitcher and that he's more suited to be your #2 given his ability to stay healthy. That depth is great to have in case of injury or if we're in a rebuilding phase but our mandate seems to be clear that we are trying to win next year. So let's add at least one strong arm to the rotation before we kick off the season.
  7. But do we want to fall back so much in the standings with our poo poo starting rotation? Our bullpen got exhausted in a 60 game season so imagine how they'll be during the stretch run in a full season.
  8. I wanted us to sign him a few weeks ago but that was before I saw those shorts lol
  9. Woukd love Rosenthal but we really need another legit starter. We definitely need Walker or Odorizzi at this stage because our starting rotation is sooooo bad.
  10. Same guy who broke the signing said the Jays never officially offered a contract. They were just monitoring the situation so I guess they were hoping for a huge bargain.
  11. So did any starting pitcher other than Bauer sign more than a 1 year deal this offseason?
  12. Now that's an awesome reply. Thanks for the info! I was under the impression his bullpen session was good but I guess I had it wrong.
  13. Loll I meant Yates is coming off surgery which we're magically hoping will fix his issues last year but then trash Paxton who also dealt with stuff...
  14. I am guessing we will end up with only 1 of them and I'd wager it will be Walker.
  15. Excuse my ignorance but didn't we sign Yates who is coming off similar concerns? How are we sure Yates will bounce back and Paxton can't do the same? 2020 seems like an outlier for a lot of players so it's truly hard to live and die off that weird season.
  16. Really don't understand this one. We took on Matz for 5.7 mill, signed Ray for 8 mill and have no choice with Roark coming back at 12 mill. Paxton blows all these guys outta the water so I would def taken him on that deal as a bounce back candidate.
  17. Wtff... we signed a guy who looked toast last year too for 8 million (Ray). Can't believe he went for only that much man.
  18. Noooooooooooooo
  19. We gotta get Paxton/Odorizzi or at worst Walker
  20. Going to guess a 2/30 year deal but the Dodgers throwing in a 3rd year to bring down the AAV. It's not even fair how stacked stacked Dodgers are...
  21. This place scares me at times lol
  22. I agree with you. I was just mentioning the worst case scenario and why people think that way. Also didn't help Bo's case that we were pretty close to landing Lindor which would have moved Bo off there. I just think Bo hasn't had enough reps at SS to fully know how good he is there. He's been good thus far minus that one game in the playoffs so he's definitely earned a long leash to start the season.
  23. Think hes only suspended until training camp officially opens up in 9 days.
  24. I think it's that and all the reports that he might not be a MLB calibre SS so people take any failure as him not good enough defensively. We'll find out during a full season if he really belongs there especially with Semien beside him. Any long stretches of struggles and I think they might even switch spots late in the season assuming playoff seeding is in play. We're gonna be trying to win games and not coddle anyone. Look how quickly we shifted Vladdy from 3rd to 1st last year.
  25. Damn that's sick. I would have wielded that power over everyone whenever they disagreed with me about baseball stuff lol.
