  1. For sure but we need to spam minor league deals to a bunch of fringe starters and hope 1 or 2 of them pan out as average. This is where Mitch White could have helped but we all know how that's gone so far...
  2. Ya pretty sure he'll be our starting 3B with us looking for impact bats at LF and the DH spot. No one gives 15M to a guy who sucks at hitting to be a bench player when you already have similar players who can do that for a lot less lol.
  3. No one said that its definitely going to happen, just that Its a possible outcome to the direction our front office has gone thus far. Improving our team on the trade market vs free agency could be the solution because if it's not then wtf are we doing with these signings lol.
  4. Pretty sure we traded for Varsho first and then signed KK afterwards last year but that's besides my point. My point was that the team is making free agent signings to potentially offer other teams cheap controllable talent to teams in a money crunch. It doesn't mean that Varsho WILL go out but just that it's more of a possibility today than it was yesterday. They probably think this is the better route than overpaying Bellinger/Chapman, which most would probably agree with. But let's see what follow up moves are made because this definitely cannot be it. There's too much pressure on Atkins to take the team forward, not backwards.
  5. This is exactly how I see it too. They added 2 guys that could potentially make Varsho/Espinal expendable. We can still sign Hadar and add Romano to the trade package to get some impact talent in LF/3B. To me, these moves have signaled they are looking at the trade market to improve the team and Bellinger/Chapman are out as choices.
  6. Holy crap, I expected this post from someone like me lol. I truly believe we are going to make one big splash heading into the season to get fans and the team excited for the season. There is no way we are just going to work around the edges here.
  7. Shatkins gonna have to get super creative to make this team better than the 2023 product that many hated. With KK/IFK, they're pretty much signaling they're out from the major free agents who sucked anyways. Let's throw around that financial muscle with the Marlins/Padres.
  8. Answer is no. Manoah should be able to bounce back like Berrios did to get the 5th spot next season. We need to spend money on some damn offense man. Go get Teo AND JDM first.
  9. Give me 2021 Jays over 2023 Jays every day of the week. 2021 team was watchable for 6 innings until our bullpen would usually blow it whereas 2023 team was unwatchable from inning 1 lol.
  10. They clearly see him as our starting 3B because there's no need to spend that much money when you already have Biggio/Espinal/Schneider on the roster.
  11. I really don't think we need to spend on a 5th starter. That would ultimately make Manoah start the season in AAA no matter what then. Might as well trade him at that point.
  12. Guess they'd rather see Varsho on the bench rather than being the 3rd Catcher.
  13. Sign Hadar and trade Romano/Espy/Varsho/+ for Roberts. Everything works out lol
  14. We're talking about being the 3rd catcher in emergency situations. It's not like he's our full time CF or something so might as well get some reps when he's sitting on the bench
  15. Isn't that what Varsho's for? Lol
  16. Totally agree man. I said so many times throughout the season that last year's Jays were the worst good jays team I've ever seen. It was so painful to watch and they still won 89 games. Need 2 impact bats in the lineup and so far we've gone backwards. Let's see what's next.
  17. Damn... I'm gonna have to be nicer to you going forward. Impressive lol
  18. I swear... didn't Spanky call this signing with the exact terms? He has sources?
  19. I don't agree. The whole world was laughing at our options in the cleanup spot for a reason. We friggin used Varsho for several games to start the season until he proved to be useless there. I agree that people questioned our back end bullpen. I didn't think they'd be as good as they were. For this upcoming year, we are putting a lot of eggs in the Green basket. I hope he's able to revert back to what he was otherwise this can be an issue too. This we can see at the trade deadline based on how they perform until then.
  20. I disagree with all the folks who say "let's wait till the deadline to patch up the holes." Ever since 2020, we have known exactly what our biggest weakness was going to be going into the year and that same deficiency was the exact reason why our season ended early. 2020 - defense (team was young so this was fine) 2021 - defense and bullpen (cost us making the playoffs in what was our best team probably) 2022 - left handed offense and defense 2023 - offense 2024 - projected to be offense again I understand most teams can't be amazing at everything but we should try to be aggressive patching up our holes now while it won't deplete our already thin farm system. We can use those assets for another concern that will probably pop up during the year since things don't always go as planned.
  21. Agreed that the FA class sucks but I'm still hoping we land 2 of Teo, Solar or JDM, Chapman. Teo and JDM shouldn't cost us much and would greatly improve the offense. RF Springer SS Bo 1B Vlad DH JDM LF Teo C Kirk/Jansen CF KK/Varsho 3B cheap FA or one of the AAA guys 2B Biggio/Schneider Absolutely sucks that our best 6 hitters are all Right Handed but I'd rather have that than settle for a crappier Left Handed bat for the sake of lineup balance.
  22. I would cry if that's our 2024 lineup lol
  23. The fact Teo wasn't qualified and could probably be had on a decent contract makes him the better play. Just wish we could have gotten a big left handed bat to bat 3rd in between Bo/Vlad.
  24. Agreed... I'm thinking we finish the offseason with Teo to split OF/DH duties and Chapman. Not sure if the overall fanbase will be happy with the same team as last year but switching Belt for a Teo like player.
  25. Not this again... it's been like 4 offseasons and going about him lol
