    If we get to the world series, we already had a great year. A team that hasn't won a damn playoff game can't be expecting much more. Now hoping for it is a different case but you'd probably sound delusional to most right now lol.

    Also another case for Bellinger is that the Jays have a lot of IF depth on the roster already so one injury to the OF and we are totally screwed. I get Biggio and others can play there but that'd be less than ideal.

    Wonder if we put up a poll on which player Jays fans would prefer based on their somewhat revised projected contracts. - Bellinger means full time ABs for IFK but a lefty to put at the top of the order for lineup balance. Can also backup Vlad. - Chappy means full time ABs for Varsho/KK and makes three IFK signing kinda pointless. Personally I think it's Bellinger even if we gotta pay slightly more.

    [bowden] The Cubs, Blue Jays and Angels seem to be the most likely destinations for Bellinger... The Blue Jays and Giants are the two teams that have shown the most interest in Chapman

    J.D. Martinez was my number 1 DH target simply because I thought a big 1 year deal was enough for him. Soler even with this contract was my number 2 choice but the difference isn't making or breaking the season. Turner does offer more positional flexibility than J.D. does so that's something but I cared mostly about getting the biggest bats possible for this lineup. Getting one of Chapman/Bellinger on a reasonable deal can still salvage this offseason.

    Ya I cherry picked by saying his last 3 full seasons and ignored his partial seasons in 2022 and 2020. Similar to the age 39 version of Turner, you can throw him in the field but won't like what you see there so both are technically full time DHs here.

    3/42 doesn't seem that bad at all. You usually have to overpay in free agency and this isn't really that for a 31 year old. He has been pretty damn good at the plate in his last 3 full seasons. If he stays healthy, I prefer this to Turner's deal simply because of Turners age and lack of upside but it's extremely close. Not gonna cry about this and just hope we can somehow land one of Bellinger/Chapman on a good deal.

    Bellinger can also play 1B on days Vladdy DHs. Also until Varsho shows he can hit consistently, it feels stupid to give him a full year of ABs from LF. Again, don't see it happening. Probably more realistic that Chappy is brought back and then we have a glut of IFs with weak hitting Lefty OFs.

    Don't forgot J.D. Martinez. Pretty much all the guys who were near the top of their position in free agency need homes. Hope Boras falls flat on his face because I've always hated his ego as an agent lol.

    Even that I think is too much. I thought he should have gotten the Springer 6/150 deal but probably got overpaid by someone for 7/175.

    Just hope that the Boras clients start to get desperate and his price comes down to where the Jays feel happy to take the risk. Obviously that's the only way this happens.

    Offseason might not be loss folks. If we can just add 1 big bat to squeeze in between Bo and Vlad, we are cooking.

    In our hearts, 2015 was all we needed. I still believe that we had the best team in baseball that year. Never once have I felt that way during the Shatkins era. It's crazy because the best team during the Shatkins era in my eyes was the year we didn't even make the playoffs in 2021. That was our best chance to win it all but Shatkins took too long to bolster to bullpen that year.
