  1. This is the only time of the year where it's exciting as hell. There's enough season left to complain about Gimenez being our cleanup hitter but not today buddy lol.
  2. Hoping Straw starts at CF, Wagner at 3B and Rodon at DH (doubt they DH Santandar on opening day)
  3. It was a damn example... rather than focusing on managing the asset being a Shatkins problem, the same people want to focus on the wrong thing here. No one's saying the Jays should get the same value for Soto, it's that they should get what the market dictates if they believe they're so far apart. Now with what Shapiro has said recently, he thinks they're "close" and will get it done. The Jays aren't about to throw 500M or so at Vladdy for nothing.
  4. That contract must CLEARLY have a lot of deferrals included or else I'm going to puke.
  5. Astros were too busy winning world series titles and actually contending every year while we just finished 6th last in the MLB after not winning a single playoff game with this core ever lol. And Soto was just an example since his term will look similar to Vladdys.
  6. Are people really defending the front office if Vlad walks away for nothing but a comp pick? It is your friggin job to manage your assets. Padres were able to trade FOR and then trade AWAY a much better player in Soto once they knew they weren't going to sign any sort of extension. The latest this should have gone is the start of this past free agency. These little league excuses are hilarious lol.
  7. I'm definitely not saying letting Yarborough go should be any reason to fire anyone even though I didn't like the move. Just mentioned it's just a small footnote to the lengthy list of people who want him gone lol. For the record, I think the entire AL sucks so why can't we suck less than the others? Still not happy with who our 4th best hitter is but this team isn't much worse than any other team in the AL. If things break right, we can have a magical season.
  8. There's plenty of reasons to want to fire Shatkins so those folks are just adding 1 more item to the list. We'll know soon enough based on how this season goes whether it was a smart or stupid decision to keep them around.
  9. He's made a whole career of being a useful longman with his stuff. He was going to be paid peanuts for his role. I doubt we're going to find someone as good in that price range. I'll irrationally be a Yarborough fan lol.
  10. Letting Yarborough is a bad decision. He's a proven long man that most teams need coming out of spring, not to mention being left handed.
  11. Not to mention Vladdy grew up with "F U money" while I doubt Kirk did
  12. He wants to get paid like he's been the 2021 version of himself every year. I blame the Jays for not realizing the stupidity on the field would transfer to off the field and just trade him.
  13. It's a 1 year deal and this team definitely needed a Starter... you can't complain much about this signing. I'm wondering if he'd made a shift to the bullpen to become a closer to extend his career.
  14. He looked amazing tbh and made a great behind the back play in the field
  15. Im not saying Straw is better than Roden but for what this team will need as a temporary Varsho replacement at CF. And I'd rather use a small Spring Training sample size than projections, Straw has looked good enough imo.
  16. Ya, i can't see the Jays letting him go considering he's a lefty and has been a proven long man out of the bullpen that every team needs when breaking camp.
  17. Who would do better in CF while Varsho is out, Roden or Springer? Personally, I think Straw has done enough to get the nod since we're paying him 5M anyways.
  18. Scherzer about to win the Cy Young and the Gold Glove lol
  19. That last spot on the 40 man has gotta go to Yarborough
  20. Ya I agree that we should milk Straw while we need him and looks good, he won't be as useful once Varsho comes back. The only issue is that Straw isn't on the 40 man so you'd have to get rid of someone to use him for however long Varsho is out for.
  21. And just like that, we have a Springer Dinger. Shame on all of YOU for doubting him!!! Lol
  22. Springer is GREAT. This message was in no way editted ever lol.
  23. While those things are true, i think its also flawed. Gimenez would need to be a high OBP guy to actually make that scenario practical. I prefer having Kirk up to bat in run driving positions that would come with batting right after the big 3. I see Gimenez more likely being a rally killer than a guy who will keep it going and be on base for Kirk based on his performance the past 2 seasons.
  24. Ya that's why I've been saying to move him right after our big 3. Would be a huge boost to the lineup if he can regain his allstar form again. Hope Schneider isn't stuck on the idea of splitting our lefties to the detriment of the overall lineup.
