  1. He was great for us last year and can take the long role from Rodriguez who we can try in the 6th /7th inning role. Worst case, this gives us a lefty that the bullpen desperately needs.
  2. How the hell did he not get a MLB deal from anyone? He's definitely making our roster so just a matter of who's getting replaced...
  3. Most 1st baseman can barely move so Vladdy easily has the athleticism and arm strength advantage on them. Now his actual fielding and ensuring his glove doesn't blow up is below average lol.
  4. I'm not passing judgment on that comment, I've already said numerous times that Vladdy hasn't shown he should be getting a blank check. Just trade him or be ready to match any offer during free agency.
  5. Both are a joke in the context of the numbers being tossed around. That's why I feel the Jays probably offered 350M or so but we'll never know until someone leaks.
  6. How do we take the word of the front office who were trying to say "Vlad's record would have set records" and then got clowned when he had to clarify it would have set a Blue Jays record lol.
  7. My guess is Vlad wanted a deal closer to 500M and the Jays were offering a deal closer to 300M. Since we're all speaking out of our ass, thought I'd join the club lol. Front office should have already known Vladdy's number and if there was realistic wiggle room much sooner. Just trade the guy for the best package you can get but I doubt a front office that has their jobs on the line will do exactly that.
  8. Ya I'm all for making fun of everyone when the situation calls for it... just saw a post where Shatkins were out of bounds with many folks agreeing with it lol. And for the record, I hated Shatkins until 2020ish... then felt stupid for doubting him until 2022... had the pitchforks out ever since lol.
  9. So we're allowed to humiliate Vladdy by calling him all sorts of names but draw the line at making fun of Shatkins, good to know lol. I could care less if the Jays keep Vladdy or not as long as the Jays get better. From everything we know about both sides, both Vlad and the front office can be delusional regarding his actual worth. One thing we know for sure is that if you already know Vlad is delusional, it is literally the job of this front office to pivot to improve the situation. Obviously we'll see how it plays out from here but the situation doesn't look the best for the Blue Jays currently and that's all I care about.
  10. Majority of people aren't even arguing that you keep him at all costs... it's simply if you aren't keeping him then trade him when his value is the highest and you have the most amount of suitors for a bidding war. That also allows you to add the missing pieces in free agency to help justify a near 300M payroll. The fact they waited this long and were still so far apart just speaks to the lack of preparation from this front office. No one wants to see Vladdy walk away for nothing.
  11. Exactly... this is 100% the issue. I said from the start, that you need to figure out the Vlad situation at the beginning of free agency before teams fill up their 1B spots and have more money to throw around. This would also allow the Jays to pivot and spend accordingly in free agency. Now any bidding war would include far less teams and know the Jays are in a position of complete desperation. This front office is full of f***ing idiots and only the same people here will defend them while 95% of the fan base want these idiots gone.
  12. Devers/Casas/Campbell for Vlad/Bo lol
  13. I just wish they figured this out before free agency started. There were tons of other free agent 1st baseman available and the market for a Vladdy trade would have been much hotter. In the end, I think Rogers steps in to meet Vladdy's requirements together a deal done tonight, we'll soon find out.
  14. Getting ready to trade Campbell and Casas to the Jays for Vladdy lol
  15. Tick tock... once Vladdy reports to camp will probably mean the end of any extension talks until the offseason. I'm sure he'll do the "i won't take any further questions on this during the season so ask away today".
  16. Bregman at 2B is a waste of his overall value but still a stacked infield.
  17. Ya I think that's his ceiling tbh. I'm sure most will see him as a 2B longterm and will give him a contract as such.
  18. That hurts to hear... hope it's not true. His comments are making it seem it's the front office who hasn't even approach him. I don't want to put too much stock into Bo showing up for Toronto during a Sasaki pitch but part of me was hoping people were reading the situation wrong. He rarely speaks so it's impossible to know where he truly stands.
  19. Bichette: 'Haven't had any talks' with Blue Jays about contract extension https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3218330 What are we doing here? After 2023, everyone wanted Bo back and wanted Vlad punted. Not enough is being made of the lack of traction on keeping Bo, he is massively important to this team.
  20. Now show him from the other angle to truly judge lol
  21. We're all being told that Gimenez is the Varsho of the infield so I'm going off this notion here. If he's that great defensively then making the switch shouldnt be an issue. Varsho also didn't have many reps in CF as he was playing other spots with Arizona and even with the Jays but is now considered the one of the best defensive OFer in the game period SS is a much more important position defensively than 2B so that's why I'd want my best defender there. I'm probably going to get eaten alive for this on this board but the "eye test" just doesn't hold up for Bo being anything but an average SS at best defensively. He reportedly got bigger this offseason so I truly question his range on top of other areas as a SS but we can agree to disagree.
  22. I actually love Bo as an offensive player even if his plate discipline can be hilarious at times. I want that man re-signed and it sucks no one is talking about him potentially leaving in the offseason. A year ago it was we must keep Bo and trade Vlad for whatever lol. My point was that we have committed long term to Gimenez whose main skill in his defense, so why would you not do your best to maximize what he does best and minimize what Bo does worst? It would be similar to the Jays putting Varsho in LF this year and using an average CF at best there, youre just not maximizing your teams defensive potential. Spring Training is the perfect time to give that a look and if it doesn't work then you make the switch, we'll see what the plan is shortly.
  23. Personally I wouldn't even give him an inning there unless we have injuries or scheduled days off. The fact the Jays have never taken him off SS ever will probably make it hard to do during a contract year. Hope an extension can be reached, which would make it much easier to do without the bad optics.
  24. He was still launching 40 bombs the other 60% of the time lol.
