It was a damn example... rather than focusing on managing the asset being a Shatkins problem, the same people want to focus on the wrong thing here. No one's saying the Jays should get the same value for Soto, it's that they should get what the market dictates if they believe they're so far apart.
Now with what Shapiro has said recently, he thinks they're "close" and will get it done. The Jays aren't about to throw 500M or so at Vladdy for nothing.
