  1. Pillar just hit a 2 out grand-salami against the Pads. Pretty cool!
  2. Who's Dogg? I dunno, I guess for me personally, it's refreshing to see a few other fans who are a little irritated too. With that said, I do have an appreciation for the positivity on this board. It helps give a little perspective when one wants to throw the remote through the T.V.
  3. I'm trying not to get too annoyed as I knew this team wasn't going to be very good, but some of Montoya's roster configuration has been pretty senseless.
  4. One thing's for sure, I've never seen a team with a worse approach at the plate. We've gotta be leading the league in strikeouts at the plate right? The amount that these guys go down swinging and missing is astonishing, especially considering that a lot of these guys aren't power bats. Hopefully it's just a slow start cause it's been pretty ugly.
  5. Hahaha that's awesome! Mad magazine LOL. Regarding the baseball analysis, I guess it's just natural for fans to react negatively towards negative opinions regarding top prospects. Fans typically wanna imagine the best case scenario.
  6. You make some bold calls and often in a sensational manner, but your calls on SRF and Gurriel are so far spot on.
  7. Exactly. We had Giles in the pen and there was a good chance 1 run wins it. Considering the circumstance and who was at the plate, bunting was the sensible decision.
  8. Keep in mind that he's flourished against 2 terrible offenses. Still nice to see, no doubt.
  9. Yeah, but he's not a very good hitter and has very little power. Considering the options, I'd rather have the runner on 3rd and 1 out than rolling the dice that Maile can get a clutch rip or advancing the runner by putting the ball in play.
  10. hahaha Montoyo's certainly had some puzzling lineup configurations.
  11. Amen... But then again, they had Brito leading off for some reason which may have made think twice about it.
  12. We're facing a s*** lineup in a tied game in the 8th with a guy with some wheels on 2nd with no out and Luke Maile at the plate. Bunting is a no-brainer IMO.
  13. Tuned in late today... What the hell is with Brito hitting in the heart of the lineup the past 2 games? And Mckinney batting 3rd? I know we're rebuilding but man... That's a stupid looking batting lineup.
  14. I'm not a fan of bunting in general, but it's Luke Maile at plate... LOL
  15. I like the idea of bunting here, the Cleveland offense is s*** right now. 1 run is likely all we need. Pretty weak that Maile couldn't get one down
  16. Nicely put. That's one of my major qualms as well and you articulated it perfectly. I'd even add Grichuk to your list, I mean sure, he's decent enough but he probably isn't a starter on most contending teams. I'm just not seeing the overall framework for being a contending team any time soon. As we all know, it takes a lot more than a few blue-chippers to carry a team. I know a lot of people bag on that Tercet guy, but I think he brought up some fair points. A lot of times as fans when we evaluate prospects, we're envisioning them as can't miss big leaguers, but more often than not that doesn't become the case. Which is a big reason why the supporting cast of big-leaguers are so important and aside from Stro, Sanchez and Giles, there isn't a lot to currently like.
  17. Nah, I love my Jays. The dome looked pretty bare for the opening series and after though, can't be a good sign. Hopefully Vlad will restore some goodwill with the casuals.
  18. Man, even the Happ returns don't move the needle much... One of the hot-ticket chips at the deadline.
  19. Perhaps, they would've at least got more for them than they ended up getting... A theme with them regarding established players that they traded. It'll be interesting to see how much rope Rogers gives these guys. Most Canadian fans are super fickle, so if attendance and viewership plummets for the next couple years, there's gonna be a lot of panicking
  20. I disagree. Guys like Martin and Pillar at the 2017 deadline would've netted a lot more then than what they ended up getting for em. So that's 5 players right there that they probably kinda botched.
  21. Nicely put. I agree on most points. It's frustrating cause the starting pitching has looked great, so if they could have added some cheap short term pieces in the pen and in the OF then who knows who 2019 would've shaped up. Maybe it's just a cold start, but I have reservations of adding important prospects like Vlad and Bo to a tire-fire of a team.
  22. I can sorta understand keeping Hanson, see if he can be a placeholder and a serviceable utility infielder since I assume the Giants wanted the Jays to take him off their hands. But I don't see the appeal in Brito at all. Seems like they're just trying to to score a diamond in the rough off of the scrap heap... Why waste the resources and time?
  23. I see your point, but Shapiro and Atkins were running the show since the end of the 2015 season. They had time to make some hawkish trades, get the ball rolling, ensure that the transition to a younger team went smoothly, but they kinda punted it. They obviously weren't in an ideal position with AA and Beeston selling the farm, but I dunno, they've been pretty hit and miss since taking over.
  24. I would've tore things down at the 2017 deadline or after the season. At that point it was clear that things were falling apart and it was clear that the Sox and Yankees were surging... To half-ass things for the 2018 season in hopes that everything might break right and that they get a WC position seemed senseless.
  25. Be that as it may, but wasn't their game-plan to rebuild while still trying to stay competitive and respectable? That approach surely failed and now they're fully tearing down a team that many smart fans believe should've been torn down after the 2017 season. Sure, there's a couple exciting prospects in the pipeline, but is the framework really there in order to be a threat in 2021 in what will surely be a tough division? Hell, forget 2021, I seem to recall Shapiro tossing around 2020 as the benchmark for the team to be rolling again... That seems like all but a wet-dream at this point. Again, I'm not trying to hate on the management, but they're very popular here and I've seen literally no second-guessing of these guys and I'm not quite understanding all of the enthusiasm behind these guys at this point.
