@ Spanky 99: I know, I know, a little reactionary and surely a response from excitedly watching the first week of Jays games. I realize that if Vlad and Bo are up later in the year tearin' the cover off of the ball that fan morale would be a lot higher. But as we all know, it takes more than a few star sluggers to build a team. I think ultimately that these guys should have went full rebuild during or after the 2017 season. Of course there's a lot of speculation that these guys were under Rogers orders but still....I think they could've been able to transit into the rebuilding mode a little smoother and less painfully. All thing considered , I'm a little less enthusiastic of the next 2 years than the majority of the fan-base. But we'll see.

I'm sorta conflicted on this personally. I know Shapiro has a lot of experience, but this is Atkins' first time being a GM. I sort of assumed Shapiro would be doing double duty as president and GM but he's stressed that wouldn't be the case and that player personnel would be ran by Atkins. Atkins has done a pretty good job at replenishing the farm, but even so, this team looks a long way away from being competitive. The lack of pitching in the pipeline seems like a bit of a concern. Some of the highly touted young guys like Gurriel Jr don't look all that impressive either. Even if the MLB team is respectable in 2-3 years (which is certainly no guarantee), we still have the Yanks and Sox to compete with and the Rays look poised to be a threat for years to come. I've read this forum for years and have mostly lurked so I realize that the management is super popular here, but we're slated for an UGLY season and it's the 4th year under the new management already. I personally would've hoped for a little more progress by now.

What do you guys make of Dwight Smith Jr's hot start? Just some happenstance luck? He's looked very comfortable at the plate.

I sorta wish Zaun was still doing the games. Would've been fun to hear him tear into these guys.

It's always disappointing as a fan to hear reports of this happening with players. I remember years back there was reports that Rickey Henderson was in the clubhouse playing cards during a Mets playoff game or Griffey JR in his last year with the M's laying on a sofa watching cartoons while the game was being played. I suppose the truth might be that the games don't matter to a lot of players as much as we think they do. That's why I don't mind guys like Stroman who might seem a little obnoxious but are clearly really into the game and winning.

I hate that I view the site all of the time for statistics because I don't wanna support the BS social agenda that they're desperately pushing. It's hard to understand why they're entwining all of this other BS with a sports site.

Exactly what I was thinking. I didn't see the harm in giving him a look as we won't be competing anyways. Perhaps they're 100 percent certain that he's finished. Can't see any other reasonable explanation.

I don't trust Jansen in high leverage situations at all anymore. He's just been off this year and his velocity is all over the place. Something doesn't seem right with him
