  1. In all fairness, I don't think anyone was seriously considering shelling out that kind of money for them. Bautista's 150 million suggestion was seen as a joke around the baseball world that no person in their right mind would consider. And with JD, there was always the concern of where Vladdy would play, so it wasn't like it would be an ideal situation. EE still being on the team would've been cool. This lineup can't hit, it'd be nice to have a little pop still on the roster.
  2. I think anything less than 500 in 2020 would be a deal breaker. Sure, it might not be contending exactly, but it would at least show that the team is on it's way to becoming competitive.
  3. Been watching a handful of Reds games by happenstance lately. Joey Votto doesn't look right to me. I'm not sure if he's nursing an injury or if age has just caught up with him. His numbers have been pretty brutal for the season so far.
  4. Ehhh, I think all things considered, it's fair to say that Shapiro and Atkins haven't exactly been knocking it out of the park. I know a lot fans will roast me on this, but I think they've been simply fairly decent. A lot of folks on Reddit will defend this regime at all costs, but I'm just not seeing anything overly impressive with them. They're taking a pretty standard and by the book approach, which is fine, but I think most people would've hoped that when they came on board that the team would be a little further along by 2019.
  5. Yeah man, it's over for the king. Too bad sorta, but it happens to everyone eventually. Kid just has too much mileage on that arm.
  6. And now Low is getting predictably hammered. There's gotta be a better option than him in a close game in the 8th inning. I guess Montoyo doesn't have much to work with, but still.
  7. Ehh, he was pissed and he was showing it. Despite the outcome, to think that Derek Law would be the better option as opposed to letting Marcus try and retire the next 2 batters is pretty clueless. You gotta give your ace the benefit of the doubt and he was at 97 f***ing pitches for crying out loud. It's not like he was sitting at 115 pitches or something.
  8. Well, the word is that they'll move Stroman if the price is right while Stro's made it abundantly clear that he'd like to stay. They're gonna need some proven veteran talent while the young kids make the transition to the team, what better signing than a homegrown player who feels a strong tie to the team? Especially considering that there isn't many obvious starting pitching solutions in the pipeline.
  9. I agree with you. Stroman is the exact kinda guy they should be trying to sign to an extension. The fans LOVE him and he's in his prime, make him the face of the pitching staff. And then he'd be the one guy to still be around from the beloved 2015-2016 runs. As a fan, it's a piss off for me that they seemingly wanna get rid of him when he clearly would like to stay a Jay.
  10. Oh, give me a break. You think if that was Scherzer out there with 95 pitches in the 7th and wanting to finish the inning that some first time, new manager would give him the hook? And it's not like the Jays have some lights out option in the pen to put in. Stroman had every right to be pissed. I don't know what it is with this forum, but there's a lot of people who are weird about Stro. The guy's the best player on the team but so many people seem kinda down on him... I don't get it.
  11. Stroman is the staff ace and vet... They should have let him try to finish the inning. He wasn't even at 100 pitches yet and was pitching a solid game.
  12. Yeah, Donaldson had publicly came out and was ripping on ownership and the front office management.
  13. Haha yeah kinda crazy, but it's not as though one sits there and watches a perfect game on TV very often... Especially while having some skin in the game.
  14. I remember that start cause I bet on the Sox that day! Was a 1 PM PCT game and I believe it was the Fox Saturday game of the week. Humber also should've walked Brandon Ryan with 2 outs in the 9th, but the homeplate ump called him out with what IMO was a clear check swing.
  15. I agree with a lot of what you're saying. If the team is a dumpster fire in 2020, I think it's time to go another management route.
  16. Boys, I think this is gonna be a longgggggg year
  17. Exactly. The cost to go see a game now is just pillaging. I think that has a lot to do with it rather than people just not enjoying baseball anymore.
  18. Yeah the DSJ scenario is only interesting in who Atkins chose over him. Definitely a bit of a blunder, but overall, probably not gonna be a big deal. It is pretty amusing that he's leading the Orioles with RBI's and one of their best players after they got him off of the scrap heap from us though.
  19. He ripped an RBI double in the 8th off of Brasier. But yeah, I'm not losing any sleep over him.
  20. Yeah, I'm confident he'll hit. He just needs to get comfortable and get back into his routine.
  21. Dwight Smith Jr with another good game tonight. Leading the O's with RBI's now. Would've been one of our best performing players thus far.
  22. As a baseball junkie, I love when I lay money on a game that plays out exactly as anticipated.
  23. LMAO. I forgot all about that stupid commercial haha
  24. I hate betting against my Jays, but one would have to assume that Berrios will have no problem carving the offense up tomorrow. If the line is decent I'm gonna pound the Twinkies ML.
