  1. YEAH, I quite enjoyed watching a couple spring games last year this way.
  2. So what do us fans have to worry about next with this team? For me it is the catching situation. Is there room for 3 catchers on the opening day roster, or do we trade Kirk or lose McGuire to waivers?
  3. YES If Espinal is your everyday 2nd base with ELITE level defense and your weakest link you gotta love it. I don't mind Randall G sticking around as our CF safety net for Springer rest days, and potential injury replacement.
  4. Question for the uninformed. Does this help in any way the players exposed for the rule 5 draft if that draft is still happening? I kept thinking that we were going to lose Kevin Smith if we didn't take him north to start the season as an example.
  5. Have to believe Groshans will be included. Oakland could drop him in at 3rd base to replace Chapman and Groshans is otherwise blocked now from 3rd and SS.
  6. I love the player but I would rather spend this $$$ elsewhere. Our DH spot has been used creatively recently. We have our 1st baseman for the next 6 years already covered. This move to add an awesome LH hitting player would strengthen the team but also limit it in some ways. There are better ways to invest the money required to sign FF. As long as the team still spends I am happy letting Freeman go to another team.
  7. Still has a minor league option so nothing to not like here.
  8. History tells us Yusei Kikuchi will give us 30 starts and 150+ innings. We were so desperate for innings last year this is a great option in the 5 hole. With the Jays offence he will be a great addition.
  9. too old...31 year old Brett Lawrie is the answer.
  10. 4th OFs should not get 550 plate appearances. If you are replacing an injured player for a large part of the season yes. Especially hitting where RG will be in this lineup. Looking at 350-400 PAs for Randal if everyone is healthy and they don't sign a DH.
  11. I was reading today that lourdes has this coming season +1 on his contract. Many prviously thought he was +2
  12. He will be no bargain, he opted out of a $13 million deal with Seattle
  13. I wouldn't mind a piggy back of Pearson and then Stripling in the 5 slot, would help keep Pearson's IP to a reasonable level. Compared to what we have dragged out to the mound in the past the rotation is in its best shape in recent memory.
  14. If you are fine handing the every day 2nd base job to Biggio sure. .931 OPS in Buffalo for Smith with + defense. Use him or lose him.
  15. I am totally fine with Smith at 3rd base and Biggio - Espinal platoon at 2nd to start. Lets see what we have. Take the spare $$$ and shore up the pen. Any left over $$$ use it to acquire a player at the deadline. A healthy Springer, and improved O from the catcher position will help offset the offense lost from Marcus S We don't need to win games by +5, we need to win more of the 1 run games with a trusted BP.
  16. Phelps signs back on a minor league deal
  17. I am more of the opinion of STOP mentioning there were higher offers out there and just assume that Toronto is a destination of choice for players. Does it still make pople feel good if one other team offered more and they lost?
  18. Kyle Seager LH bat on a 2 year deal until Groshan is ready
  19. As it stands now he is our #1 And he is a legit lower half #1 MLB SP
  20. Ray on a 3 year deal will be great. I think Marcus can ask and receive a 5 year deal that will be an albatross the last 2 years. Off to San Fran is my prediction.
