  1. Imagine soley using WAR depite the results to think that is how an outcome will be. If we just took WAR on the surface, David Ortiz sucks. In 11 starts since coming off the IL in July, Bradish had a 2.67 era and the O's were 8-3 in those games. Bradish dominated the WS Champion Astros twice down the stretch,. In one game against the Astros he set an O's rookie record that had stood since 1904 with 10ks, 0 walks and 0 runs allowed. All Stowers has done is hit in the minors and he has shown signs of lowering his K rate in the majors. He is a lefty batter who has good splits against lefties so no platoom worries. Stowers was overshadowed by guys like Rutchman and Henderson and is blocked in the OF by Mullins, Santander and Hays. Fangraphs Paul Sporer has Stowers ahead of Conforto in OF rankings and way ahead of Keirmaier (since we are talking AL East). Not saying the dude is Aaron Judge, but he is one more weapon the O's have if they give him playing time that they did not have/utilize the majority of last season.
  2. A full season of Rutschman, Henderson, Stowers, Bradish, Rodriguez, Hall, plus their core. A half a season of Means and anyone of their other young studs they bring up... Not going to be the same O's as the majority of last year.
  3. Right here boys https://jaysjournal.com/posts/blue-jays-fangraphs-playoff-odds-are-out-and-jays-fans-wont-be-happy Unfortunately, the projections don't think the Jays had as good an offseason as many fans and analysts seem to believe. Don't look now, but FanGraphs has the Jays finishing third in the division, with an 86.7-75.3 record and .535 winning percentage. However, they're just behind the Tampa Bay Rays' .537 percentage.
  4. The O’s had one of the best records for a period in the 2nd half. The two run of the mill SPs they got was to bridge the gap and allow them to be competitive in the in- term. Bradish put it together end of year and will be a stud. Means will be back later, Hall is good and just needs some time. The O’s always have a good pen. Rodriguez should push guys back. Fangraphs have us finishing third in the division. We need to make sure the O’s don’t catch us
  5. If that is the best you can do to find fault in my draft, I will consider it a success.
  6. Who in their right mind would join some s*** like that!??
  7. Pearson pitched in the AFL prior to breaking into the bigs. Pitchers in the AFL in 2022 were guys like Quin Preister and Tink Hence. Maybe saying orgs send all their top pitchers is not correct. I will rephrase, there is some very solid pitching in the AFL. From the offensive stats you are compared to/your competing against some serious studs.
  8. Good job keeping the draft going at a solid pace Gentleman. I am really happy with my draft. I don't ever recall a draft with so much good near ready/ready MLB pitching. Nine out of the ten times if they are any good they would have already been taken in a FYPD/J2. My picks: Pick 1- Gavin Stone SP LAD. Stone is in the mix for a SP slot with the Dodgers later this year. Many have Stone over Miller, regardless, a MLB ready SP. Pick 2- Tink Hence- SP STL. Hink is a bit behind Stone just going into AA this year. However still relatively close to a shot at MLB considering most FYPD pitchers. Also, outside of Blue Jays circles (Tiedman), I would say one of the hottest spec SPs in terms of trade value and Fantasy player interest. Pick 3 - Tyler Locklear 3b/1b SEA. This Dude crushes the ball with elite EV. He tore up the AFL with multiple HRs games. Teams send their best to the AFL so it wasn't like weak competition. Pick 4. Gabriel Gonzalez - CF/OF SEA I deviated from my college ball and near ready pick strategy to take a 19 yr old Gonzalez. Some fantasy outlets have GGon as the top prospect in the M's solid stystem and compare him to a shorter and stockier JRod. Willing to excersise patience on this one. Pick 5. Robert Gasser- SP MIL Came to the BrewCrew in the Josh Hader trade. The dude tore up the minors and is near MLB ready. Another near MLB ready SP in this year's draft. Pick 6. Connor Phillips- SP CIN Came over to Cincy in the Suarez and Winker trade with the M's. One of the Red's top milb pitchers he is already at AA and a jump to the majors for a rebuilding Red's team would not be out of the question this season. Pick 7. DJ Herz - Cubs minor league pitcher of the year in 2021, the consensus is the kid had MLB stuff. It is just whether he will end up a SP or high leverage RP. Cubs are really high on him. Possibility of a late season cup of coffee, more likely 2024. However, not too far away for a FYPD draft pitcher with really good stuff that an org is so high on. For my last pick of the 2023 FYPD. Pick 8. Prelander Berroa- SP SEA. The M's put Berroa on their 40 man to protect him this year. The M's are high on him and feel they can get his BBs in line to go with his 35.6% plus K rate. Berroa pitched in AA last season and is again an high potential SP not too far from the MLB... Can you see the theme of my draft... Anyway, until next years draft.
  9. Atkins just said today he is still looking for they need more SP depth. I like Ross's attidude and Jim and I are just saying don't be complacent which posters are if they think we have enough depth.. Which many do...
  10. This is your tired and over used reply everytime we talk about this. It is becoming really obtuse. We are trying to win the WS coming out of the AL east not compare ourselfs to the lowest denominator. I should fire myself and then shoot myself if I am a GM and say welll such and such sucks so it is ok if I suck. The Rays have 5 very solid SPs to start the season. Baltimore has the whole damn calvary coming. Domingo German is Yankees 5th guy now.. Not even going to get into Houston, the Dodgers, Indians etc. We need to be able to say if we lose one or two, which we will, we still have 4-5 solid guys. We are still not in that position. I love a lot of things we did this off season. I like the addition we made to our rotation, and the pen. I like guys like Thompson as SP depth. We are still walking too much of a tight rope as far as I am concerned. I am not willing to settle for nor should you, just getting by and getting a WC.. That is no gaurantee either.... We need to do more and stop trying to shame people year after year for not accepting the status quoe.
  11. I think we missed out long term on signing Cody Poteet to a minor league IL deal like KC did. That is a no cost, high upside depth move. I suspect the drum is not the only thing you are beating Jim;) I have been shouting both SP and BP depth from the rooftops since prior to last season, I agree. We have 4 solid SPs and one is a crap shoot. An injury to one of those 4 and we are down to 3. We need more, "key word" solid SP depth and I would like another high leverage guy in the pen.
  12. Colombia is weird when it comes to baseball. They are right beside Venezuela, and Panama, two baseball hotbeds. However, baseball in Colombia is only popular on the north eastern coast. Get away from that coast or inland and it is just pure soccer (futbol). They also like basketball. The space and equipment you need for baseball is so much different than basketball. There are also concrete soccer "courts", in addition to grass fields. Basically a small rectangle almost like a basketball court in heavilly built up areas, but for soccer, not basketball. There is the odd baseball or softball field in major cities inland. However, I still could never fathom/don't know enough about the history to understand why baseball is very regional in Colombia and it had never neen as popular as two of their neigbors.
  13. Pura Vida! Brush fires keep the mosquitos away
  14. f*** it, I am in.
  15. So basically if 5 of your 9 guys go on the 60 day IL you are s*** out of luck?
  16. How does that work?
  17. You never sent me your pics???
  18. So basically your toggle doesn't work? I might know a few Colombian girls who can help you with that Can you switch the players in your queue? As in slide #6 to #1 and vice versa?
  19. So I heard some former GM's talking about this when Trevor Story annouced his surgery. One of the GMs commented that one of the big lessons he learnt was and if he could do things over again is to set earlier time tables in the off-season for player assessment. They were highly critical of the Red Sox and waiting so long with Story and have him end up probably missing a large chunk of the season. The GMs said that the Red Sox set a Christmas or New Year ICR evaluation date. The Red Sox should have set the date around American Thanksgiving at the latest. I wonder how much of the same happened with Grichuk... Instead of setting hard early off season trip wires, these teams wait until last minute to get non acute surgeries done and lose asset value for the regular season...
  20. I just wanted to let you know it's not too late to send Grant a Valentines Day gift. Also if you act now you can take advantage of the 25% off last minute sale.
  21. Same numer as Leonardo DiCaprio's dating cap .
  22. My boy Varsho is in camp. Blue Jays just shared some video of him shagging fly balls.
  23. Yup. Some of the best trades are those not made. Having said that, one shouldn't get too attached to every new shiny prospect floating on helium. Guys who traded Adel, Kelenic, Duran and many more at their peak are loving it. Those who hold/held too long, not so much...
